I have tried both and I like feathers better than vains. They are more forgiving. they stablize your arrow faster, and they are much lighter than vains. Plus they last longer in my setup than vains. Even when thy start looking ragged they still fly good. Plus they look better.(JMO)

i like feathers better because i think they are a little more accurate, but i dont think it really makes much difference.

Right now I am shooting vanes but if all goes right I am switching to feathers.

Question: Do you have to waterproof your feathers?

I like vanes for hunting as they hold up in the woods/brush better than the feathers do and if it rains don't have to worry about them getting wet.

If you think it is going to rain then you might need some type of water protection. Some guys just put sandwich bags over them. I use Feather-Dry. It is made by Bohning Archery. I get mine at Bass Pro shop. It has to rain pretty hard to get your feathers wet. Morning dew won't hurt them.

Feathers. Better flight characteristics, lighter weight, more stability(helps big time with broadheads) prettier(if that matters), and more traditional in my opinion. With the stuff they have out now, rain doesnt bother them. Hell, ive shot drenched feathers, and they still shoot great, you just get real wet. Allthough, they are more expensive. I personally dont see where everyone says you have to replace them as often. You shoot a hole in a vane, its done. You shoot a feather, if its just a little nick, you can still target shoot with it, its just noisy.

Feathers for me, my shooting improved after I switched from vanes to feathers
arrows faster,gave me more confiedence.
