Playful stalking
 

Midday day one afternoon I spotted a doe grazing. So being curious just how close I could stalk on her I tried it. I was moving in milimeters, I got within five yards of the deer and then I thought I'll see if I can sneak away undetected. Finally 45yds away from the doe I slipped behind a tree and off I went. She never saw me or smelled me. She never even locked eyes on me. But she did bleat the whole time. The stalk took me almost 2 hours. That was only about 90yds in 2hours. But what better way to spend a lull in the day of hunting.

Maybe the doe was blind and couldn't smell. (lol)

Anyone have some close stalk's just for entertaiment?

I would have to say one of my longest stalks was on a herd of antelope, spent over 2hrs inching along on my belly, I ended up getting within bow range, and I waited for the perfect time to draw my bow, as I was drawing, I immediately was detected by those magnificent eyes they seem to have, the last I remember is the herd was still waving good bye to me at a 1/4 mile a way! :)

Wow man that is neat! Getting that close to a deer.....I have been about that close in a blind though. That is a neat stalk.

;) I do it year round cherokee. There is nothing quite as satisfying to me than to go into the whitetails playground, show up undetected, observe them, smell them and then stealth my way home. Sometimes it's hard for me to keep a straight face and not crack up with laughter. Them critters are super characters to observe. Some of my fondest happenings is just watching them at play. It's like watching a bunch of kids at the school playgrounds, just having a hoot amongst themselves. Glad to hear that you have experienced this phenomenon. A little warning, it's damn addictive.

Laughter is very hard to hold back. We were bugling in a bull. And had a small bunch of cows drinking out of the river right infront of us. This little calf came bounding out of the bush and plops right in to a deep pool of the river. He went clear under and came out flailing and squealing. The little guy scared the whole bunch off. We didn't care, we were rolling on the ground laughing so hard at that calf.

Animals do some funny things, I'm glad I got to see some of these things.
