How do I determine the best Broadhead weight
This may sound dumb but I use 100 gr Broadheads for hunting and I use 100gr field points for 3D .What I would like to know is how did I come up with 100gr apposed to 125 gr or even 85 gr and how can I make the various wieght's work better for me ,I'm starting to understand a little about arrow's and BH's from reading articles from 5shot ,MattP/A and some other's Do I match my arrow's with broadheads or do I match my broadheads with arrow's ? This all seem's a little complicated to me so I can sure use the advice .

RE: How do I determine the best Broadhead weight
I match the target points grain size with the field points grain size, Im relatively new to Archery hunting, but I think that is the way to do it, thats how I do it.

RE: How do I determine the best Broadhead weight
As a rule most heads in the 100 to 125 grn weight will work with most setups. I choose the head weight that ends up shooting best. If weight is a big concern then 100 grn heads would be the a good starting point. If you want a bit more FOC then the 125's would be a good place to start. In the end though I have found little overall differnce.

H.S suggests,
55# 85-100 grains 55+ 100-135 traditional around 125-145 range Of course your other setups will affect your choice, but this is the main thing to go by. |
