SOME A$$ STOLE MY CAMERA

Went to check my camera today the last time I checked it had 12 pictures on it and on sunday we had just put corn down before the big snow storm came and the deer did find that corn. So I hadnt been back there since sunday so when i went to check it today someone had stolen it and I was really pissed because we had not had any problems with anyone stealing any thing like our ladder stands. I was looking forward to getting the film developed today but some idiot had to screw up my fun for today. At least it was an expensive camera it was a stealth cam that cost 65.00 I had another one in the woods and I took that one down today. We had the camera out for along time and I loved the pics it took for the price of the camera. It' weird though there were no tracks in the snow from somebody taking it we had more snow last night so I think they took it before the snow last night. WHY DO PEOPLE HAVE TO BE SUCH A HOLES[>:][>:][>:][>:][>:][>:][>:][>:][>:][>:][>:][>:][>:][>:][>:][>:]

Sorry to hear that a butthole stole your camera. I know its a silly question but have to ask it anyway. Do you know who might have stolen it or at least have an idea how many other hunters/scouters were in the area? Hope you find it or at least get another one soon.

That stinks. I just bought a digital camtrakker and am a little leary about putting it out with the snow on the ground. I will put it out at dark and pick it up in the morning though.

RE: SOME A$$ STOLE MY CAMERA

Yes I think I do Know who stole it see I just moved into this house before bow season started and there is a farmer that lives behind my house and I asked him if I could Hunt and he gave me the okay. The guy that I think stole it lives behind me closer to the farmers. I think It was him because before we moved in he had all this land to himself so when we brought our stands in and put them up he was mad that we set up so close to his stand because it was were the deer were we told him that if he saw that are stands were to close to his we would move them but he never said anything to us I have only seen him hunting over there once.when we went over to put corn out sunday he saw us and went over to see were we put the corn and saw the camera and it took a picture of him so he took it. But there is more hunters on ajoining propertys that could have took it but I think it was him but how do you PROVE IT. I do plan on getting some more of these cameras they are great.:D[>:][>:][>:][>:][>:][>:][>:]

RE: SOME A$$ STOLE MY CAMERA

Had my first trail camera stole about 3 years ago it's heartbreaking to walk up and see it gone. The jerk that stole mine took the bungee strap that held it on the tree and wrapped it around my stand just to be a smarta$$ . I got a heavy duty bike cable lock for the next one, lock and cable all one piece and allmost imposslble to cut

RE: SOME A$$ STOLE MY CAMERA

Can you prove it?? Maybe. First, quickly develop the other roll of film and see if it got his picture. Second, Start calling all of the film developers to see if there is any film for "what's his name". If you don't know his name or don't want to try that approach, maybe you could let them know what happened and ask them to notify you if they develop a roll of deer pictures. Keep checking, it may take a while for him to have them developed, but I bet he will sooner or later.

This kind of thing sure sucks. I was out scouting a couple years ago with a $400 camcorder(hoping to video some deer), walking down an old lane through some woods. I was supposed to be the only one with permission to be there. A deer trail cut across the road through some extremely thick brush. I promised my wife I would not tear up her camcorder, but I really wanted to follow this trail a ways. Thinking there was noone within miles, I sat the camera down in the lane so it would not get scuffed up, then followed the trail about 100 yards. I turned back and went to the old logging trail and the camcorder was gone!! I had only been gone 10 minutes! Some lowlife was watching me and grabbed the camcorder as soon as I got out of sight! A lot of losers out there, that's all I know.
The good news: There are people out there who will do the same with your truck, your dogs, your 4 wheeler, treestands, even your kids!!(MORONS!). Just be glad it was a $65 dollar trail camera instead!!!

Good luck, I hope you can get it back somehow!

This is what I do to prevent theft. I also have 1 of the cheaper Stealth's. It bothered me it had no way to be locked up. So I cut a metal section from a piece of angle iron. Ran it through the back of the camera via the belt straps. I drilled a hole in each end of the metal, and ran a chain through it to lock around the tree. I then drilled 2 holes through the plastic camera housing from the inside, through the metal plate. Then screwd the camera to the tree to boot.

if there were no tracks in the snow ...maybe the deer were having a bad hair day and took the camera out ......

:( z man: truly sad when your stuff gets picked off. I lost a ladder stand this year and I'm still ticked off 3 months later. My wife tells me to be Christian about it and turn the other cheek. Easier said than done. My prayers are with you my friend.

I saw a way on here to help get your camera back if it gets stolen. Just take a big piece of poster board, then on it write. " If this film is being developed by anyone other then (insert your name) please call (insert your phone number) because that means that this camera was stolen!!! ". This way when they take the film to get deveoped, the developer will see the first picture and hopefully call you and you can meet the police there and give them the name of the person that stole it. Which will be written write on the film envelope. I heard of a couple people getting their cameras back this way. Hey, it's better then nothing.

Getting the other film developed today but I dont think he was on it because when I checked it yesterday It didnt have any more pictures on it then it did when I checked it when we put the corn out sunday. I dont think he new were the other camera was because It was not that close to the one he stole. It just pisses me of that some people have to be like that but I will try some of your ideas. Thanks Bearklr Buck Alley and Captain Backstrap. If this guy that stole the camera thinks Im going to move my stands away from his he has another thought coming because I know that is what he wants us to do but he could have asked us nicely and we would have. Over the off season me and my dad are going to come up with away to lock the cameras to the tree like you said Buck alley. Thanks everyone:D[>:][>:][>:][>:][>:]

Now don't be puttin' a nice pile of human scent by his tree. Hint! Hint! Or don't be sending him a picture of it either. What a low life to be taking someones stuff. Whether the camera was 65.00 or 6500.00 dollars. Stealing is stealing.

Why cant you guy's,place your Cameras overhead ,say 20 feet, and angle the shots downward to the area you want to take the picture of????????Seems to me,someone might not want the hassle of climbing to retrieve it,especially if there was no step's or anything to get aloft?????? Just bring your climber to check it.Beat's having it stolen!

RE: SOME A$$ STOLE MY CAMERA

Heres an idea, you take a couple of cases of those pull string fire works(ive used this idea before) wrap them together, so it looks like one big fire work, or make a rope booby trap with them and put it betwen two trees. If it works out right you can here it from china without blowing the old farts legs clean off, but you will know if he is on the land. It sounds very crazy but sometimes you have to go commando z, some one stole my Dads climber this past season and that realy ticks me off. Im thinking about getting a camera to see if I can get a pic of him on our friends land that we hunt on, and also to check deer pop. sorry about the stolen cam, but it will continue unless you make sure the man knows you mean bussiness. Good hunting all!

RE: SOME A$$ STOLE MY CAMERA

Taking a pic of a poster board with your name and stuff is a good idear but the problem I see is that all the developeing processors are busy doing other things and don't even look at the pictures being developed. I guess a shot in the dark is better than none at all though and I for one will do that in the future as I have lost a camera also.

RE: SOME A$$ STOLE MY CAMERA

Yes! some people just like to be jerk's and take thing's that don't belong to them . I would mention to him that you lost your cam and that you intend on watching the area a little closer from now on ,just so that he know's and he might not be so quick to touch anything else from here on in .Don't accuse him just let him know what's been going on. I know it's only $65.00 but it's $65.00 that belong's to you not them.
This is actually 1 reason I haven't used a cam ,I'd love to put one out but I'm afraid of this happening.

RE: SOME A$$ STOLE MY CAMERA

Thanks for all the info and support I am going to try to come up with a way to build a mold or something out of metal to go around the plastic except in the front and put a hinge on the side and a handle on the other to lock the camera then run a chain around the tree and put a lock on it and run two screws into the tree through the back case of the camera. Then if someone steals it they worked for it.[:@][:@]

RE: SOME A$$ STOLE MY CAMERA

mdbohuntr,
Actually alot more developers look through the pictures then you think. I am pretty sure they have to. See, they only charge you for the pictures that turn out so they look through all of them to see if there were any that didn't process correctly. They also have to look through them to be sure that there isn't any "illegal" material on them. If there is they must contact the police. And finally at most one hour developers the pictures come out of the machine right in front of the clerks and they have to look through all of the to be sure that the machine is working properly. So in reality, your chances of someone seeing the pic is pretty good. Especially if it's on flourescent green poster board with big bold letters. We as people are so nosy that if we see that pic we'll have to read it.
