Scent Control Clothing

RE: Scent Control Clothing
I haven't used it too much yet but I've seen plenty of deer when I have worn it. Never had anything down wind of me to really test the suit. Everyone has their own opinion on these suits. I think it works to some extent but there is no way it can completely eliminateyour scent. These suits are by no means a free ticket to hunt whatever stand or wind direction you want. There is no substitute for hunting the wind and storing your clothes in a scent free container and taking scent free showers. These suits are just one step in a series of steps that should be taken towards being scent free!

RE: Scent Control Clothing
Have one. Seems to have lost its effectiveness though. Hunted w/o it this year and got my biggest buck to date (as well as having # of big deer in range).
I will not be buying another. |
RE: Scent Control Clothing
I use a supressscent suit and it doesn't hurt to have it. I still don't know why a deer doesn't smell me. Is it because of the surpressscent suit? Or is it because the wind just didn't get the scent down to it's nose?
I wear the suit but still try to have the wind in my favor as much as possible... Works for me anyway... |
RE: Scent Control Clothing
I use it, and I think it helps. However, I would look at your whole collection of hunting equipment and decide if it would be your best investment. Maybe there's something else that would improve your hunting success more like a couple more tree stands or better bow, etc. If you're covered everywhere else, go for it!

RE: Scent Control Clothing
I considered buying one for a long time. I would have if they weren't so expensive. However, based on some of the scietific data that has been released and discussed in these forums, I don't think they are worth the money. I use scent free laundry, showers, deodorant and all that. I have had deer straight down wind and not smell me at all. I have also had a couple times when, a deer was downwind and reacted a little bit. I am guessing that it picked up a little bit of scent and figured the threat was far away.
In my opinion, its a half dozen one way and 6 the other???? What's the difference? Why pay the money? Now, if I could roll out of bed and hop into a suit and be covered on scent control, then I would buy one. However, that is certainly not the case. TBO |
RE: Scent Control Clothing
Save your money. I have bought 2 scentblocker suits, over 600.00 worth.
They seem to work well the first year or so then loose their effectiveness. I now rely more on baking soda for scent control. |
RE: Scent Control Clothing
I broke down and bought a Supprescent suit half way through our season. Before I bought it this year, I got busted, and snorted at, numerous times. After I started wearing the Supprescent system, I was never snorted at. I had deer downwind of me on several occasions. A couple deer did get a little nervous, but they never snorted or took off running. They cautiously walked away. I was surprisingly impressed with how well the clothing actually worked. I was as big of a skeptic as anyone, but so far I'm really impressed.
Like others have said, it's not a "cure all," but IMO, it certainly helps. |
RE: Scent Control Clothing
I have the sentlok liner and a hood. I would guess that about 70% of the deer that I saw this year came from downwind. The only times that I know that I got busted was from movement.I saw more deer this year than I have in the past, but that could be because there were more deer in my area. I figure it can't hurt and the liners aren't that expensive.

RE: Scent Control Clothing
Yea, it seems like the prices are coming down on some of that stuff. If you look around and wait for deals, you might get some bought for not a whole lot more than regular clothes. That's what I did. Now is the time to look for some deals.

RE: Scent Control Clothing
I just read this article that refers to a new technology in scent elimination.
