Bad results with ASAT???

I got the 3d leafy suit for Christmas. Saw 10 deer the first time I used it including 3 bucks. I even got within 30 yards of 4 deer that were standing by my truck when I left. I've heard nothing but good things about this camo. People report the "look through" effect when the are hunting. I even read a story about two guys hunting and one of the guys couldnt see his partner unless he was moving. Not only does it work up close as most other pattern do or at least claim, but it works at a distance. I'm wondering if anyone has had any bad experiences with it? It appears to be the ultimate camo. Thanks for the replies!

RE: Bad results with ASAT???

99% of my experiences with the suit were great. However, the last morning I wore my suit I decided to try a spot I've been wanting to hunt from the ground. It was very overcast that morning and I decided to wedge myself between a very large oak tree and a smaller vine infested hackberry that grew right beside the oak. I cleared the leaves out around the big oak and settled in. I had 3 different deer come through seperately right during the first 15 to 20 minutes. Each of those does busted me at about 25-30 yds and I did not move a muscle as I had no intention of shooting them. I felt like the ASAT was just to bright in those circumstances, with a dar overcast morning and being silouetted against a very dark background. I felt like I was wearing white, it was really glowing.

I know Rob and Ausie will rip me a new one for saying anything bad about ASAT, but thats my experience. However, it was late in the season and the deer were really on alert, I may have been busted in any camo, who knows. BUT, with that said, I had several great experiences with ASAT this year with deer in close, less than 10 yds and having them look straight through me, in the right environment, I think it is the best thing going.

Belle.

Nah not into doing that;).

But as you said it was late in the season on already pressured deer.

I have used it in a simular situation but early season and got to slap a yealing button buck on the butt with his mother and twin sister in full view of me, they just looked in my direction for a couple of seconds and went back eating the corn.

titleist, Ausie,...I've heard alot of good things about the ASAT leafy camo. I like the pattern but was wondering if it is as quiet as fleece or some of the other hi-tech fabrics?

Aussie-guy, did you really? Thic camo seems to have its advantages and disadvantages. Disadvantage- There are people that go in the woods and shoot at trees. Since you blend in so good they won't see you. If you are ground hunting on public property you have to be aware of this. If that would happen to me my 12 gauge with 00 buckshot would take care of that.

So your saying ASAT has a disadvantage because your more likely to get shot if you wear ASAT, and that wearing another camo brand is safer?? Thats crazy[:o]

No, No, No, I was actually giving it a compliment saying you blend in so well. Sorry for the misunderstanding. :D

I read under their money back gaurantee that if you don't see as much animals in this camo as you would wearing your other camo, they will buy it back for up to a year. Talk about a gaurantee. :D

I don't really understand the ASAT craze, to me it appears to be somewhat of a rip-off. It looks as if ,to me, it is not alot different than what Predator has been putting out for years.

RE: Bad results with ASAT???

I love my ASAT, but, the only flaw I have with the 3-D Leafy suit is durability! I ordered mine and got it in archery season this past year. Well, I have a few small holes in it, none in the mesh, they are all in the "leafy" parts. I would also say that about 75% of the "leafy" parts are getting ragged.

BUT...................... I also used this suit while rifle hunting when I did a deer drive on "the brushy hillside" which is just a over-grown crab apple thicket that is over-run with green briar and multi-floral rose. I went in to that with perfect looking camo and came out with tattered clothing. I wouldn't say that it was the camo's fault, it was mostly the stubbern hunter who refused to take the camo off :D:D:D:D

I will be getting a new 3-D suit this year plus I plan on getting the regular ASAT pants and jacket for rifle season!!!!!!

Ben,

They are similar in what they are meant to do, but, the ASAT has different shades in it, and also, it is more of a contrast than the Predator. I don't think that you can go wrong with either of these, but, I will stick with my ASAT!!!!!!!!!

P.S. Thanks Aussie, you got me hooked on ASAT and Matt got me hooked on BowTech............ okay........who is next to get me hooked on a great product??? :D

I don't think my leafy suit is any more noisy then my old camo. I think I remember reading somewhere that the more you wear it and it gets washed the softer and more quiet it gets.
