Bow price check needed
Interested in buying a brand new Hoyt Ultra Sport bow that comes with just about everything to get started, except for release, arrows and quiver. Asking price is $500. Is that a good price? This will be my first bow and I really don't know what most bows go for in prices, and I don't want to be getting ripped off.

RE: Bow price check needed
contace hoyt usa for a catalog, they list suggested retail prices....Hoyt is an incredibly good bow, very smooth, quiet, fast, and forgiving....does this one you are wanting have the new tech riser? If not, head to your local pro shop and check one out, it will be well worth it

Not trying to be naive or anything on purpose, but like I said, I'm completely new to bows, but what's the tech riser?

RE: Bow price check needed
it is the newest riser from Hoyt...most of their new bows have it...

RE: Bow price check needed
I think that is about $75 to high for only the bow sights and rest.
Keep looking you will find a much better deal than that. That sounds more like the price you would see for the ultra mag. Good Luck! |

Find out what it would cost to buy the same set-up new. A good deal would be about 50-60% of that cost, depending on what shape the bow/equipment is in and how old it is. Bows hold their value more than accesories do. IMO.

RE: Bow price check needed
tabby,
The bow that I'm referring to is brand new. All that is missing is a quiver, arrows and a release, and the archery shop near my place is asking $500 for it in a package-type deal. I'm just wondering if this is a good deal or not for this Hoyt Ultra Sport bow. |
RE: Bow price check needed
here is a link to last years model and price of the ultra sport. It was called the mt sport lst year. I believe you should be looking at $400 to $425 for the package instaed of the $500. Just to give you an idea is all.

OK. I didn't see that it was brand new. My bad.

RE: Bow price check needed
Cost does not always tell the whole story. You might beable to buy a bow in a box for less at one place but still loose. If the guy is tuning it, setting up the add ons, draw length etc he has to get paid for his time. Just make sure you're comparing apples to apples. The guy is running a shop, stocking inventory, paying employees and rent... he can't justify selling at the cost offered by a discounter that ships you a bow in a box with nothing done to it.
