Getting out of stands

I know it's been addressed before but I was seeking insight on techniques of fooling deer from underneath your stand when shooting light is over. On several occasions I've had deer feeding underneath me and I was concerned over spooking them. I have used a snort and they usually flinch or move just a bit.

I'll throw something down away from my stand. They usually split then.

I always wait until I know their gone! Sometimes this means an hour or more after dark, but I'd rather sit tight, then have a mature doe or two knowing where my ambush spot is located.

If she's home, I also have my wife drive the four wheeler to my location. Deer typically are not bothered by vehicles. Once I know she's coming, I get prepared for my decent. I've watched deer hang tight until she's right on them. Usually they slip away quietly, I get down as fast and as quietly as possible and hop on the back and off we go. I have her drive past me and make a couple of circles, giving me time to get down and then ride right up to the stand where I will sometimes just hop off the last step onto the fourwheeler.

;) Coyote call or dog barking that close will get em moving real quick. Most times I have noticed no hesitation, they tear up a lot of ground pronto.
