RE: I love this do dad GPS
So I decided to go find one of those GeoCache sites this morning. This thing is great. Took me right to it without a hitch. For those who have never done this. These folks hide little boxes etc in the woods with some items inside. You can take something if you want but they want you to leave something. I didn't take anything but left "2 Cents"(Abe Lincoln type). My GPS told me I was within 5 feet of it when I found it. I was infact within 3 feet. It was painted camo and stuck in the crotch of a tree. You log your visit and put it back.
The "Backtrac" feature of this thing is great. Part of the way to the site I was on a divided highway. This thing wanted me to slide over into the wrong lane to backtrack. It's that good, it knew I wasn't on the same path as I went. Then as I got closer to home the arrow still kept pointing to the other lane on one lane roads. When I drove over to the lane I went out on it straightened right out letting me know I was on the precise track. It brought me back to within 8 feet. Not bad for a 7 mile "As the crow flies trip". I'm a GPS'ing FOOL.[:-][:-] |

That is sweet - I'm getting one! Been hunting long enough - don't have a record booker, but I think I've earned a GPS.:D

Dave I knew that if you gave it a chance you would like it.One of my buds at work (a vet like yourself)was a bit sceptical when I first started showing mine off a couple of years ago.He calls me "gadgetman"and a few other names:DAnyhow he bought one this Christmas and loves this thing. He also told me about those Geo cache sites.I think I'll try that out too, good way to break up the monotony of the winter.Bill D>

RE: I love this do dad GPS
I would think Geo Caching in the winter snow would be a little tough ... OR... you follow the last guys footprints. Either way it would be tough I think. We don't have any snow right now so it's cool. We're suppose to get some tonight. If you had kids and were going on outdoor type vacations you could punch in zip codes or cities(even different countries) and get a list of caches in the area you'll be going. I'm going to dig some up in the Seattle area the next time I go there. My son is always getting tied up at work and I have time to kill.
