My 2003 mount is back !!!!!
 

Yesterday I went and picked up my mount!!! It is my first ever bowkill as well as my first deer mount. It was a 6 point with a 15" outside spread. I think the taxidermist did a very good job and I couldn't be happier.

This is my mount from a quota muzzleloader hunt in November, my taxidermist is using it to show off a new form that Dan CHase has out.

I was laughing when i saw that squirrel mount. It looks like its forming the letter "C". I have to wonder of if the taxidermist was listening to Y.M.C.A when stuffing it lol[&:]

Red Hawk, The squirrel mount was actually done by me. I do a little small mammal taxidermy and that is the only one I have done so far. I have been doing research on it for like 6 months and am about to tackle some more mounts. Hopefully they will turn out a little better. Some of my friends also think it looks like a gangsta squirrel throwing up a gang symbol..lol

Wow jimbo, thats a long time to wait. I looked at three taxidermist before picking the one I did. One had a turn-around of 6-8 months, one 2-3, and one 4-6. I went with the 4-6 and it got done in 3.

You're not kidding Nuge, 13 months is a long time. Especially if you're me! If this isn't one of the best mount jobs I've ever seen, I will be choosing a new taxidermist for my next one if I'm lucky enough to HAVE a next one! ;)

I can't believe you guys are waiting over a year for a mount to be finished, 5 months is a long time around here and heck I killed mine on Nov. 15th and could have brought it home two weeks ago but the taxidermist wanted to show off this new new form.

I'm still waiting for one I dropped of in November of 2002. I'll probably be on Social Security before I see the one from 2003. [:'(]

Oh well. The taxidermist is a nice guy and does great work. No rush, I suppose.

Jimbo, sorry it took so long for me to reply, the mount on my buck is the newest form Dan Chase has out, it has 4 more inch of shoulder on it , he just released this form on Nov 15th. My taxidermist had it on a flyer he received and I said let's do it, the form is the biggest looking mount I have ever seen and you must realize mine is on a 22inch neck. The head detail is excellent and I really like the detail of the muscle but I don't think a short haired- early season buck will look natural with all that extra. It has about the same look as a 6400 Mckenzie just better.

Thanks for the reply highbow- you're right. A slender, early-season buck would not look so good on that form. That's a heck of a neck! Somebody posted a pic of their mount late last fall, and it had the extra chest that yours does... I'm pretty sure it was the same model. You might remember it- it was an aggressive pose...
BTW, I got my mount back yesterday... I posted it on the deer hunting forum last night. I think it turned out nice.
