RE: number 1 bow
There is no one single #1 top of the line bow or bow company. What one person likes someone else will dislike.
Take mallard and myself. I wouldn't shoot a Mathews if you paid me.;) I do not like the roller guards, the string supressors drilled in the thinnest and most stressed part of the limbs, nor do I like how the limb pockets do not sit square on the riser. I also have heard very little good about their customer service. Bowtechs are great bows but they have a steep draw curve, and a narrow valley and depending on the model some are very top heavy and do not ballance well in the hand. They are however, very fast bows and many people like that. Parker is what I really like to shoot. At least for now. I hunt in the Colorado rockies and the UL 35 is a very light and well balanced bow. It's a fairly fast bow, and it's a very quiet bow. For me Parker is top of the line but for mallard he choses the Mathews. |
RE: number 1 bow
Merlin and Bowman are the two best made bows to me. ;)

RE: number 1 bow
From new is HOYT..... Past bow is the old uni-star from Jennings...HEEEEHAAAA:)
|
RE: number 1 bow
Mathews for me, and no other including Hoyts and Bowtechs, and in reverse of what BigBulls said, I would not shoot a Bowtech if somebody paid me a million dollars, they have some good bows, but I do not like them, and never will Hoyt maybe, but not likely, Parker probable!
Bowtechs do nothing for me, why do they try and take after Mathews?? Anybody, because Mathews leads the bow competition in designs and technology! #1 Mathews is the LX, or Legacy, and maybe the Outback! |
RE: number 1 bow
I wouldn't say there is one top of the line bow. Hoyt, Matthews, Bowtech, Parker, and Merlin all make excellent bows. Everyone has different preferences. Having said that, I am buying a Bowtech later this month.:)

RE: number 1 bow
ORIGINAL: bowhunter830 can anyone tell me what is the number 1 top of the line bow It all depends on who you ask and you'll get several varying anwsers from this question. IMO, the correct answer is the bow that fits you and your budget the best. Bowtechs do nothing for me, why do they try and take after Mathews?? Anybody, because Mathews leads the bow competition in designs and technology! Yep, the 4 BowTech Dual Cam bows take after the Mathews designs...;):D |
RE: number 1 bow
Number one in what? Sales, customer satisfaction, shootability, balance, quietness, manuverability, lightness, forgiveness, speed, smoothness or maybe good looks?
Are you asking about a manufacturer or a particular bow model? For sure, no bow is number one is all those categories and most would have trouble claiming the title in any one. In addition, there are several manufacturers that could compete in each category. The answer is a decision made by each archer and there is no right or wrong. It's too subjective and what's right for one person, is dead wrong for another. [8D] |
RE: number 1 bow
The longbow I made on my patio is #1.:D

RE: number 1 bow
;)I've shot Proline, PSE, Mathews and now a Hoyt Cam and 1/2. Guess what? THEY ALL KILLED DEER FOR ME!!!

RE: number 1 bow
I'm curious who has the largest bow sales (in $). My bet would be Hoyt. Does anyone know?
Thanks! |
RE: number 1 bow
Shoot a bunch of bows and get what feels best to you. I thought Mathews was the best there was, and checked out the legacy, LX, and the Icon. Liked them all. Shot a Hoyt Razortech and liked it just as well. I ended up with a Bowtech EX VFT because it felt right. All of the others were nice too. I did check out Parker, AR, and a few others that just werent to my liking. They are all good bows, just personal preferance.

RE: number 1 bow
I have been surfing on this site on and off for a year and I'm pretty sure I haven't seen anyone talk about Kodiak Outdoors bows. I worked for Gander Mt. for 6 mos. (the mangement was a joke the pay sucked that's another topic) and a buddy of mine has a pro shop in which I help him out when it's busy and I've bow hunted for 20 yrs. So I have shot everymake out there (not every model though) and played with all the big sellers from year to year and if you guys get a chance go shoot this bow. The things that impress me the most are, very light, VERY quiet, good speed, Great balance before and after the shot, you can change draw let-off and length without a bow press, and they are a small company (like mathew's, bow-tech and the rest use to be) so they're customer service is great. They come in 32'' axle to axle & 36'' axle to axle and have gone to winner choice strings and buss and retail from $500 to $600 depending on who's selling them. Go give'em a try I haven't shot anything that compares to them. BTW they are extremely accurate also.....

RE: number 1 bow
This would be my guess as far as sales numbers from what I consider the big 4 bow companys:
1. Hoyt 2. Mathews 3. PSE 4. Bowtech Does anyone have any exact numbers? |
RE: number 1 bow
ORIGINAL: Belle Island Does anyone have any exact numbers? Yes... I'm very certain that Hoyt, Mathews, PSE and Bowtech all have their own exact numbers...;):D |
RE: number 1 bow
Yes... I'm very certain that Hoyt, Mathews, PSE and Bowtech all have their own exact numbers... And I don't see any of them jumping to release any of that info:D |
RE: number 1 bow
These topics are funny.:D
Hoyt, Matthews, PSE and who knows what is next. I would wager that Bowtech is not even in the top 5 for sales. Its hard to find a Bowtech dealer around here and I don't even know anyone who shoots a Bowtech personally. |
RE: number 1 bow
I shoot a CHAMPION bow, so its got to be #1!!!!
In all honesty it is the best bow I've ever shot, and I've shot Mathews, Hoyt, Pearson, and Golden Eagle. Never had a chance to shoot a Bowtech yet. |
RE: number 1 bow
If you really get down to it,PSE is #1 in sales.Think about how many start out with one of their models. They sell them in every catalog and store in the country.
I personally think that Hoyt makes the best PRODUCTION bow out there.Their accuracy is second to none and the geometry and shootability is awesome. There limbs have also proven to be the industry standard right now.I am also a really big fan of the cam 1/2.The problems that 1 cams have really turned me away from them but it really isn't a problem for the average shooter. Mathews and Bowtech are very similar in riser designs but their cams are very different and I for one hate the feel of their cams, but I have not tried the new Bowtechs that are supposed to be easier to draw. The LX, HP hurt my shoulder for a week after I pulled one back.I am also not a fan of the grips on either,BUT in no way am I saying they don't make a quality bow, just not for me. Martin is a company that I really like and I really like their new bows but there have been a few issues in the past that I really would like to know have been addressed. They do have some of the most accurate bows in the world. Parker is just too light but if that is what you want, then that may be your favorite bow.Being light really adds to hand shock but that is very easy to overcome with sims and really doesn't affect the way they shoot. The Kodiak bows have really intrigued me and I would like to try the 36" model but the limbs scare me with the way they are cut out. That should completely eliminate limb shift but that should also cause a weak spot. You can see how personal a bow choice is and there is no real way to say one is better than the other. Most of the upper end bows are going to do an excellent job and there are some low end bows that are really nice too. Don't get caught up in what the advertisements say about wins. The fact is that Mathews dominates 3-d strictly because of the number of shooters and Hoyt dominates the rest because of how many shoot their bows. They both make a bow capable of winning when put in the right hands.I personally feel the Hoyts give the shooter a little extra for the really long tournament shooter but that is my opinion. |
