Old bow question
I have to post this question hear because you can tell by my name I'd be run out of the other sight if they knew. I was wondering what the oldest bow any of you use to hunt with is. The mother of a good friend of mine was having an estate auction and I bought my firends 1973 Bear Alaskan that was in storage in a good, dry environment since 1977. While I'm a traditional hunter at heart, I'm a deer hunter first and foremost. I couldn't help but sight it in and I shot a beautiful 8 pt. with it in late October. It pulls 60# and I shot straight through the buck with 2215's & Bear Razorheads. It was kinda fun using it. Any way I wondered if I was the only one using a relic to hunt with.

RE: Old bow question
I doubt there are many people to be found hunting with an early 70's compound, anywhere. The oldest I've got only dates back to the mid-80's and it only went hunting once, about 12 years ago.
By the way, how much will you pay me to not report back about this character flaw of yours to the other guys in the trad forum? [>:];) |
RE: Old bow question
How much is a 1973 Bear Alaskan worth to ya?

RE: Old bow question
How much is a 1973 Bear Alaskan worth to ya? I think the old bows are fun! I tried for several years to get a 'classic compound' 3D shoot going at the club. Only compounds 1985 model and earlier, allowed. Rules were to be original IBO with targets 'about' 60 yards max and aluminum or fiberglass arrows only. I think it'd be a hoot, but nobody else wanted to do it so I gave up on the idea. |
