First bow hunt. Any tips?

I am going to start bow hunting for deer if I can catch it this year. It ends at the end of January. Any advice on hunting in January. Calls, scents, ect. Thanks

My only advice.......worry about your shooting! Practice, practice, practice! Find out you maximum hunting range, THATS differant then your maximum shooting or target range. Stick to it and practice with your full hunting clothes on and practice from you stand. So many things can go wrong bowhunting you can't believe it! But that what makes it so great, it a real challenge!

Good Luck!

I would suggest giving up on this season and concentrate on practicing with your bow for next season. Like Cloud said, practice......practice....practice!!

Zak.. I wouldn't give up hunting for this year if ur confident to take any shots within 20 yards. The worst thing that could happen is you see deer all around you but to far! You will learn from the expierence. See how deer react when you use different scents, calls, etc. Just get used to being in a tree and sitting still! Remember know what your shooting at way before you draw your bow!
Thats my 2 cents worth. Hopefully some others can help ya out a bit more

Like the others said, wait until what you think is a walk in the park shot. Nothing iffy or you won't recover your deer. It's hard to be effective with scents and calls this time of year. Just be scent free and quiet is probably your best bet. Once you get that first bow deer, you're hooked. Believe me. Good Luck.
