Problems!
I am having some problems shooting my bow. I just bought 6 CX Terminator Hunter arrows yesterday, 6075's, with 100 grain field points. I was out sighting it in today and I used a bag target. Then when I thought I got it, I got my 3d deer out to try. The first times I shot I was doing good at 10 yrds and 20. But when I Tried 30, the arrow went over the back of the deer and hit my dads car trailor and shattered. I was mad and quit for a while. Then later today, I decided to go out and try it again, I started off doing ok again, then I tried kneeling at 20 yrds, not a good idea, I missed again, over the back and hit the trailor and exploded. I am shooting a Reflex Gamegetter with 27 in draw length and about 65#'s. What could I be doing wrong and is there any good ideas Ican use to make a back stop?

What could I be doing wrong and is there any good ideas Ican use to make a back stop? About the back stop... It's tough on arrows, but it sounds like the car trailer is doing a darn good job. :D I've made some good backstops out of carpet remnants. You can either cut the carpet up into strips 2' wide and 4' long, then compress them into a bale with banding straps or make a layered, free hanging backstop. |
RE: Problems!
uh not a car trailer here's your sign

RE: Problems!
If you want an easy backstop, a 1/2" sheet of plywood works well. Its will stop the arrow and penetrate enough usually enough not to wreck your arrow or fletching.
Good luck figuring out your mechanics! |
RE: Problems!
Take your time and be patient. Make sure you can shoot REAL GOOD at 20 before going to 30 yards. When I first started shooting, I did pretty good at 20 but missed the entire target at 30 plenty.
I now understand how unforgiving bad form and lack of experience are when shooting at 30 plus yards. Get a good backstop (not dad's trailer):D and practice at 10 and 20 yards until you are really grouping well. Then move to 30 and focus, focus focus. Hang in there. |
RE: Problems!
Try the NO-PEEP!You won't be sorry--FACT.

RE: Problems!
Hey Mossberg, need a good recipe for car trailer?:D I agree with the other guys, don't shoot too many arrows, you lose concentration and start punchin shots. Haybales work good as a backstop for me if they are tight and you can get your hands on some. Good luck.
