buddy heaters or heating device's

Anybody ever use a buddy heater bowhunting? Reason for asking ,i was thinking of getting one to use in my blind, but i'm scared the sound from it will keep the deer away. I'm bowhunting and won't take a shot unless it is within 20 yards.Any input would be appreciated.

I just got a buddy heater for Christmas and it is great. I originally wanted it for ice fishing, but will use it in a hunting blind next year. The buddy is ceramic and is very quiet. No hissing sound what so ever. The nice thing is it has a low O2 sensor that will shut it off so you will not die from carbon monoxide poisoning. This means you can use it in an enclosed blind, camp, tent, whatever. I used mine the other day in a portable ice shanty on an 8 degree morning. Turned it on high for a little while, then turned it on low. The shanty was toast warm. As the sun came up and it got to about 15 degrees outside, I turned the dial to pilot and this kept my pop up nice and cosy. The black cat and sport cat are smaller to pack around, and may also be a good option. I amgoing to get the sport cat for hunting next season when I hike over some distances. It is more packable then the buddy, but only kicks out 1000 btu's. Enough to keep warm when needed, but not hot enough to start anything on fire. You can put a piece of paper on the element on it and it wont light. Pretty neat!

My thoughts/ Chris

Buddy heaters work great in the blind. The only noise it will make is when you first fire it up when you "click" the igniter. When its running its quite. I have used the buddy to heat a camper, wall tent and used it last weekend in my Double Bull Blind. Had my son out there with me and you could sit in there with a t-shirt on. It was so nice in there my son fell asleep until i woke him up when a coyote came in.

You can get them for around 79 bucks now on sale here and there if you take some time to look.

You wont be dissapointed ;)

Look in to the bodyheater suit. It is super quiet and I can wear my early season bowhunting clothes in it and will always stay warm. Hunted in northern Saskatchewan for 5 days bowhunting all day-every day and stayed warm. One of the best purchases I've ever made.

I'm glad to hear about those Buddy heaters. I'm wanting to get one for the tent/camper. I had a close call with a propane stove a few years ago and don't want to risk those again. So there's no toxic fumes? Even in a nylon tent?

Heres the site where you can read about the buddy:

http://www.mrheater.com/productdetail.asp?id=678

I dont notice any smell at all when using it.

You can buy these all over. Do a search online, or Cabelas, Walmart, Menards, I have seen them everywhere.

I always put a smoke and CO detector in my tent or camper when ever im sleeping inside. Just some more comfort for me.;)
