What gets you pumped
 

While sitting in a tree bowhunting what gets you excited the most during the hunt? For me it's the sounds of a deer walking in on you unseen but you hear it walking in the dry or frozen leaves. You know it's close cause you hear it. If it is a fast walk you fear it will get by you before you can do anything and if you move too quick it might spot you as you know not where it precisly is.
While walking the dog this morning and hearing her walking on the frozen grass had me reaching for the bow :D.

Peak of the rut. Sitting on the edge of a foodplot watching a bunch of does grazing. Then boom you look back over and their is a monster and hes walking right at you. That gets the ol ticker ticken.

Having one sneak in from behind. Or looking one way than another and when you look back to where you were looking, there is a deer standing there in the open and you wonder how in the world did he get there.:)

What gets me pumped......hhhmmmmm......Oh thats easy, When you're hearing something comming towards you and YOU CAN'T SEE IT! They keep coming and you can't identify it. I hunt alot of thick stuff and often you can't see anything until its 15 yards away. But you can hear it from 50. Fox, squirrels, coyotes, raccoons, turkeys....they all get me pumped!

Two things get me going and thats when I get to identify what I am hearing. Although the antisipation grows and just birst out in the darn shakes when I accually see the animal. And the other is when I am on the ground and for now apparent reason there goes a deer busting through the brush from someplace that I just looked. And I dont know if it worse when I get a glimse of it or when I dont get to see it at all.

When I pause in the middle of a rattling sequence and hear a deer runnng but cant spot it. One other thing is sitting on stand and hearing a loud grunt that you cant pinpoint.:D

It is the soft grunt from a doe or the deep grunt of a buck that really picks me up quicker than anything , I love to hear a deer running towards me too. The sounds of antlers banging together and the sight of a doe running from a buck in rut. Watching the fog rise on a early October morning to uncover a huge buck feeding near my stand, I could go on but you get the idea.:)

A deep gutteral bugle echoing through the canyon at first light. I cant hear elk bugle enough.................Bulls ,bugles, boggs and black timber

The thing that gets me going is watching the animal come in, right into your set up. Seeing him for the first time, and then the anticipation of him coming into range. Generally I lose most of the adrenaline when the animal is in range until after the shot, but after the arrow is sent, or bullet is triggered off, it all culminates and that rush is hard to beat!

That would get me pumped too,... but I haven't heard a deer walking on frozen leaves since 1068. Len ran 20 past me this morning. They stopped about 75 yards out and tried to figure out what to do. Then he came over the hill and they galloped by at 55 yards. I still couldn't hear them. I get pumped when I hear TWACK.

I would have to say that I really get pumped when I can hear something coming thru the woods but you cant see it. Man the suspense kills me.[:o]

I get pumped whenever its time to go huntin!
Deer season is winding down and Im lookin forward to spring turkey!

Just being in the woods gets me pumped and hearing my 6 year old daughter say " dad you need to shoot another deer I want some venison"....

pre season scouting and finding a new area for the first time that you think is gonna be the hot spot. no pressures just dreams of big bucks and the anticipation of opening day :)

From the moment that they come in until the time they leave. With or without my arrow :D Also the sound of a deer feeding on acorns right behind me.

I gotta put myself into the EVERYTHING catagory. I've heard squirrel I was sure were deer. Deer I was sure were people. people I figured must be dogs, a pig I was sure was a turkey..and no matter what I think it is my heart beats so hard it makes me feel like I'm gonna vomit. Or having a couple deer come busting thru with dogs on their butt. Damn I love it all. Sometimes even being out there in the woods and having a hunter come "stalking thru" and he never sees me. I love hunting. Love it all.

When they're walking on a trail that you know is going to put them in range and offer you a good shot. Trying to remain calm can sometimes be difficult at the moment of truth.
