How many of you use 65% letoff
Will all the discussion about P&Y's recent change from only accepting entries of 65% bow letoff or less I was wondering how many people actually hunt with a bow that is in this class. When I bought my bow, I had them change it from the standard issue 75% letoff to 65%, so that IF I was lucky enough to shoot a big buck, I could enter it. I am just curious as to how many of you use similar bows or if the majority are happy about P&Y's decision cause you can now submit bucks taken with your high letoff bows.

RE: How many of you use 65% letoff
65% letoff here and my reasons for shooting 65% has nothing to do with Pope and Young. I have tried several bows at higher letoffs and I hate them. I shoot more accurately with 65% or less and I get a little more speed and less shock.

RE: How many of you use 65% letoff
I've got that 70% let off, but rated at 65%, so my bow currently has the legal amount to be entered into pope and young without the new rules. Regardless, I think I'll be hanging out in the 65% range for a while since I am happy with my current bow.

RE: How many of you use 65% letoff
Same here Cougar Mag, my bow originally cam with an 80% letoff, but I bought the extra module and only use and prefer the 65%.

RE: How many of you use 65% letoff
Mine is 65% by sheer coincidence.
|
RE: How many of you use 65% letoff
I have 65% also. Same as Coug, it has nothing to do with P&Y. Alot smoother draw imho and the increased speed cant hurt;).

RE: How many of you use 65% letoff
65% here also
|
RE: How many of you use 65% letoff
65% here also, ditto coug as well.

RE: How many of you use 65% letoff
I shot fingers for many years and 65% let was much better for fingers and when i switched to release i saw no reason to change.
|
RE: How many of you use 65% letoff
65% here! I've always prefered the smoother draw of a 65% letoff!
|
RE: How many of you use 65% letoff
65 % here also.
go deep hunt hard.;) ![]() |
RE: How many of you use 65% letoff
65% only when I shoot a compound. It's usually 0%.

RE: How many of you use 65% letoff
Glad to hear that there are a few that use the 65% letoff like myself. Bowhunting is about the challenge. I do not agree with 80-85% letoff and being able to put a big game animal in the record book. Todays bows are so much more advanced, arrows are better, broadheads are dramatically improved over yesteryear. Why should we make it easier on ourselves by increasing letoff? Thanks for your responses. Oddly enough, nobody with a high letoff bow has responed......

RE: How many of you use 65% letoff
I use 65% because of accuracy and it has nothing to do with P&Y.
I disagree with 80% making it too easy or even making it easier.Imo,the high letoff makes it harder.Drawing an 80% letoff bow is harder and holding it steady on the target is harder. And heaven forbid you actually have to letdown. |
RE: How many of you use 65% letoff
i shoot 65% i have a 60lb bow not enough holding weight at 80% letoff.
|
RE: How many of you use 65% letoff
The only bow that I have ever owned is a 65% letoff Proline Raven. I want to upgrade, but I keep on finding other uses for the money. I have not shot a 85% letoff yet.
|
RE: How many of you use 65% letoff
Another ditto on what CM said. For me its a 60 lb. Hoyt Ultratec Cam & 1/2 with 65% modules. A real pleasure to shoot.

RE: How many of you use 65% letoff
I prefer 65% also. It's a good thing too, Oregon has a maximum 65% letoff allowed while hunting.[&:]

RE: How many of you use 65% letoff
My bow came with a 75% let off and I had the moduals changed out to 65% to meet the P/Y perameters, but what I found out is if you shoot the 75% and don't pull back to the maximum, then you'll meet these perameters of less than 75%, but since I"m in trophy country, I'm not going to take the chance, my equipment is within the guidelines of P/Y. ;) Bobby

RE: How many of you use 65% letoff
I'm at 65%........but I may now play around with the 80% let-off, and see how I can shoot with it. If it shoots as consistent I'll probably change.
Good Luck! |
RE: How many of you use 65% letoff
believe mine is set at the 80% the factory makes it. Learned that it is hard at 50, 65, or 80% to bag a good deer, or using Traditional. Who really needs the P&Y to tell me it is a World Record. Sorry been around the world too many times, and risked my life to have some committee tell me my trohpy is not the best because I used 80%.[:@]

RE: How many of you use 65% letoff
65% let off, nothing to do with P&Y just how it was when i bought it.
|
RE: How many of you use 65% letoff
My 6 year old High Country Ultra Force with Hatchet Cams is 65%. I like it too much to upgrade to anything else. Very quiet for a two cam. With the 60lb limb cranked down and measured at 61 lbs. I am getting 250 fps with my old 501 grain arrows, and 274 fps with my new 375grain carbon arrows. The set-up is very efficient. I've had the cables and string replaced once. Unless something happens to it, I have not plans on getting a different bow of any letoff.
|
RE: How many of you use 65% letoff
After this season, I'm switching to a different arrow, lower draw weight and then the 65% module. It has nothing to do with P&Y, I just want the extra speed that I would lose from dropping poundage. I have seen a few in the last couple of years that would make book, so that is just a bonus for me.

RE: How many of you use 65% letoff
65% here.....
|
RE: How many of you use 65% letoff
65% for me. Always been much more accurate for me. Too easy to get sloppy w/ 75 to 80%
Could care less about PnY. |
RE: How many of you use 65% letoff
still at 65% for me...can't think of a good reaon to change it anyhow
