You don't have a selfbow category on your poll, Coug. So I clicked longbow instead.

I'd been making, shooting and hunting with homemade bows and arrows for a good six years before I ever got my first storebought gear - a solid glass 45 pound Bear recurve. That was cool. A bow that would never break or wear out. ;) Unfortunately, I found out it wasn't tornado proof. It was gone with the wind in 1979.:( It had been retired for a glass laminated recurve (Shakespeare maybe? I forget) long before that though.

1970 DAMON HOWITT recurve. I'd give lots of money if I could have it again. I'd give even more for one free shot at the yahoo I let borrow it who then locked it up in his pickup during the August heat(about 105 that day) in Georgia after I told him NOT TO. He went out and pulled it out at work during lunch hour to show some fellow employees how good he was getting. It shattered when he pulled it back. ONE FREE SHOT... that's all I want. TO THE MOON ALICE...... BING...BAM>... ZING....ZOOM.... TO THE MOON.

I started bowhunting in 1984 and that meant a Bear Whitetail Hunter compound.(X-mas 1983) I think I had one of the first camo models of that bow.
I couldn't even begin to tell you how much I shot that bow for the 4-5 yrs I owned it.

My first hunting bow....
You mean my 'tree limb bows' weren't hunting bows? Good grief. All those rabbits, squirrels, jackrabbits, prairie dogs, possums, coons, coyotes, bobcats.... I wasn't supposed to hunt them with those bows?

Dang! I hate finding out I made such a bad mistake more than 45 years too late to do anything about it. [:'(]

By the way, my fiberglass bow was NOT red.

First hunting bow was a 52# Hoyt recurve, mid 60's vintage. Still have it.
