Getting re-started in archery

Hi all. this is my first post here on the bowhunting forum. I am wanting to get back to shooting a compound bow. It has been 7 years since I shot a bow and a lot has changed in the style of bows. I am looking at the Renegade bows, inparticular the Tominator II. What are your thoughts on Renegade bows? and the Tominator II ? This bow will be used mostly for target shooting, with the posibility of hunting. I do not have a lot of money to spend on archery. Maybe $550-$650 for bow, arrows, sights, etc. Any information on the new archery equipment is appreciated as I have been out of the loop for many years. Thanks Neweboarhunter

My first suggestion to you would be to check out the various forums on this site...bowhunting, technical and Bowhunting Gear review...to see some of the current threads on bows, sights, etc.. That should give you a good idea of how things have progressed over the last seven years.

Second, use the search function at the top right of the screen to narrow down your choices and/or to research specific topics.

Third, visit a couple of the local pro shops since their experience in this area is invaluable. But, as I said, visit several since you are likely to get more than one opinion on equipment.

Lastly, I have no experience with the Renegade line of bows. They are a relatively small company but I have seen a few folks comment about their bows in the last year or so.

Hope this helps some.

Check the "Forgiveness Factor." Not scientific but a starting guide.

New, I recently purchased the Renegade Alpha-1. So far, I really like the bow.Excellent quality and RAC is a great company to deal with. My Alpha-1 is setup as follows: 27 1/2" draw 70 lb, 80% letoff, shooting GoldTip 5575 Hunters (375 Grains),@260 fps. Good luck and good shooting. Cutt
