NYER'S Two feet of snow on the last day of bow !

Well it looks like it's just about over unless you want to go out in the blizzard we're having. Were supposed to get a foot tonight and another foot over night, not exactly the way to end the season.

Hope every one had a good season.

I hear ya Charlie. Season is over for me. I'll be home watching football and working on my keg calibration for next season.

My son just read this post over my shoulder and says" we could try that push, you know they are going to be bedded in those pines today" It is within walking distance of the house, hard tracking though think I'll make some venison chili instead.

Now he called me a wuss because I don't want to do it. I pity the deer when he gets old enough to hunt.lol.

Nice ryme.

Wasn't the weather awesome this year for us![>:][:@] Starting with 40-50mph winds on the first day to a closing day with two feet, she must be a member of peta!

lmao. I think she is. She definitely wasn't cooperating. I can't remember having to miss as many hunts due to ridicoulous(unhuntable) weather. And I hunt through pretty much anything. Some days this year were ridiculous. A definite rollercoaster ride.
Let's see Charlie....... 12:30 now. Probably about 1 1/2 drive there. 2:00 by the time I get there. 3:00 by the time we get situated. Oh wait add another hour for the argument with my wife about driving all the way there in a blizzard. 4:00 by the time we got going. Probably be 17 inches of snow by then. Could theoretically have time for 1 push. Ahhhhhhhhhhhh venison chili sounds good. Man am I getting old!!

[8D] Charlie p. That's what I looked like after 3 hrs. freezing on a log pile Sunday. My boy, Joe was in his tree stand and did'nt look much better even though he's 35 yrs. my junior. On my way to get him I thought about asking him to hunt some deep beds I'm aquainted with. Thought the better of it and we called it a season. Whew! What a wild ride it was, loved it just the same and am looking forward to next year already.

Jimpok,
Dam bro... you went out in that stuff Sunday? You're a better man than me. I opened my front door and stood in my hallway and had to shovel my way to the front porch. Wow it dumped some serious white stuff.

I have a lot of time on my hands now that the golf season is over and I'm on vacation. From March to November I'll have about 2. Plus I'm trying to catch up to Taz.

Wow, I can only hope that we get a storm here in North Dakota like you guys in NY are getting :) It's almost Xmas here and we still haven't got a decent snow. Nothing beats hunting right after a good snowstorm.:):):)

This year was VERY tuff. The weather was off,,and depending on where you hunt, the deer #'s seemed down,,very DOWN.I hate how "mother nature" is putting a pounding on our deer herd already.I'm thinkin,"very low DMP's next year".

NYBH< you run a golf course? My brother in law is on one of the mini tours. Matt Abbott, just graduated from Penn State a couple years ago.

I'm the GM/part owner of a small 9 hole course here. I also play as much as I can on a couple different mini-tours.

Not a very good start again for the deer herd. I heard rumors of another nor easter wed. night.

I'll scrape it back to the grass and send it to ya. It's about thigh high already!!

Droptines, I hear ya. I'll be very surprised if Encon doesn't drop DMP's drastically in some areas next year. Where I hunt in Columbia County I had about a 60% drop in sightings as compared to last year. It might be tough hunting the next few seasons.

Yeah it was a bad year for most of my friends. I cant say the same for myself. I ended up with two deer and two other recoveries for somewhat lazy hunters. I harvested a spike with my bow this year. FIrst ever bowkill. I also took a doe with my shotgun. Like everyone else mentioned mother nature is directly affiliated with PETA. I am thinking about a class action lawsuit for deprivation of quality hunting weather. Im in talks with JUDGE JUDY as we speak.

Well, having drawn blanks on the DMP 4 of the last 5 years, I could really care less if they even have them. In fact, I think they over did them for years and still are. There used to be a lot more deer but the state got used to the extra money. They should just give us a tag for each weapon, doe or buck... take your pick. I'm getting tired of paying $250 for a license and then not being able to apply for a DMP in the areas I hunt.

Amen davidmil, could not agree more. Up in NY they are handing out way too many DMP's. I saw many bucks in these parts but very few does.

RE: NYER'S Two feet of snow on the last day of bow !

Guess I'll vent a little here myself. This was by far the worst deer season I've ever experienced in 20yrs of deer hunting. I shot the only buck I saw in the northern tier season starting on 9/27. In fact I never even saw a deer in the N.T. all through archery, muzzleloader, and not until the 2nd wk of regular rifle season. For southern tier I saw 4 bucks during archery, and a few doe. I only saw 5 deer during the S.T. regular shotgun season all doe, and no shots.
The weather was crap most of the season, and it ended with me being sick on the couch all last wknd, so I couldn't get out for late archery or muzzleloader.
I was lucky to get the deer I did, and most hunters I've spoke too all have mutual stories of lack of deer, and sightings. But I'm guessing the DEC will have another record harvest printed in the papers this winter. Right now I'm just hoping they change some season dates around to give us more archery time in the woods, especially N.T.
