Some years ago there was a staff shooter for one of the big manufacturers that was winning everything on the circuit with one of their low end bows. The honcho's reamed him out good and made him start shooting one of their high end bows, where they they had more profit margin. Things haven't changed. The low end bows will shoot for someone who knows how to shoot. Someone that doesn't know how to shoot, they can spend all the money they want to on equipment and they still won't know how to shoot. Confidence comes from practice and knowing your equipment. It doesn't come out of your wallet. |

I spent $200 on my bow 4 years ago and it still shoots great. I can hit quarters at 20 yards with aluminum arrows and have enough speed and penetration to accomplish what I want. Why should I spend a grand on another bow?

Some of the higher end bows have less recoil and vibration. That can improve your accuracy to a degree. It can certainly make the archery a lot more fun and pleasant.

They're usually also on the lighter side than the cheaper bows. They have closer tolerances which translates to better groupings and performance. I find most are much smoother to draw. It all goes back to whoever dies with the most toys wins.[8D]

I agree....not much. From a practical perspective there is very little that most of the high end bows will offer to the average bow hunter. As someone mentioned...maybe a little bit more speed...or a slightly quieter design with better components but nothing that would drastically alter the effects of the hunt.

:eek: Dangit David, now you had to make me swallow some more smokeless tobacco juice![8D] I've been wormed again! My 2004 resolution is to do some spitting before I read your post. Thanks buddy. One of these days I"ll overcome that habit but for right now it's helping me finally give up the smokin sticks.:)

I called them 2 years ago with the same question. They told me that their higher end bows are a little lighter due to machining, are more expesive to build due to the machining costs, camo on the cams, but that the bow they sell the hunter mag has just as tight tolerances, bla bla bla. The guy I spoke with said that they would make more money if I bought the 35 UL but that If money was an issue I would be just as happy with the hunter mag. I bought the hunter mag, several hunts and 3-d shoots later I couldn't be happier. great company, great bows, no hype. |

I shoot trap and I use a 400 dollar 870 wing master, when the big boys come out with there 3000 dollar brownings, pirazeis or berratas I have no fear , because I ussually beat them I stiill think Its all in your head and what you feel comfterbal with. |

This isn't what I recommend, but...I killed a deer this year with a $100 Bear, no silencers, no limb savers, 2-prong rest, and good arrows. He was 20 yards looking right at me (I was on the ground). He didn't see it or hear it. I think the only reason it worked is because I was comfortable with it. Don't get me wrong I will be uprgading after christmas.
