RE: Why do people that hunt turkey with a bow......
When shooting them with a shotgun I liked to hold them down while they expire to prevent damage to the bird in case I wanted to mount it. Going to try bow hunting this season.
The only reason I would do that with a bow is to have a close follow up shot if need. With a shotgun the bird was always dead just flapping. I would not like to be on the whooping end of a pissed off injured TOM! |

no one mentioned it, but if your arrow is still in it and you run up on it, the bird can kill you by flopping around!!
i had a friend catch a muzzy to the shin once because it was lodged in a still very much alive turkey, he bled ALOT...lucky to get out of the woods! moose |

Hey Moose, good point. Can't be too careful. Catch up to em and beat em with your bow.

I've yet to get one with the bow but I will try to get to the bird as soon as possible with safety being first and foremost.
If you haven't hunted for turkeys yet, don't. It is a bad thing, a disease that will fester in your psyche every spring for all the rest of your born days. Run away. Save your sanity while you still can. |
