2003 ARCHERY DEER PICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well guys, this evening I finally got off my butt and got my film from my camera developed.
Here is the pic of the doe that I shot on Monday, October 6th, 2003!!! Like I said, not the biggest doe I have shot, but, the more I look at the picture, the nicer the deer looks. A little recap of the story..... I had to work at 6:00a.m. Well, I went to work and after a little over an hour, there was nothing to do, so, I came home. On the way home, the sun just started peaking over the ridges. Well, I got home and new that deer would be moving at that time, and I didn't know if I should head out into the woods or not. Well, I decided that it was a perfect morning and I wanted to hunt. I slowly snuck from my back yard into the woods. It took awhile the close the gap to my stand as I was being ENTIRELY quiet. Well, I got in stand and set-up and I decided to give a few bleats on my can call to disguise my noise. Well, probablly 3 minutes later, I saw a deer comming in. A small 5 point walked in and stopped broadside at 15 yards, but, I let him pass. Just minutes after he was out of sight, I saw two more deer. Two doe came in and I decided that I wanted to take the bigger one. She was standing slightly quartering towards me at about 15 yards, but, I wanted a perfect shot so I held off. She came in to 4 yards broadside, but, there was a small branch in the way, so, I held off. Finally, she got behind me in a dried up creek bed and stopped. She was about 7 yards away, slightly quartering away. I put the pin about 3" high and about 1" back from the crease of the shoulder. I let loose and the arrow found its mark. The arrow broke one shoulder blade, passed through one lung and the heart, then, it exited out on the opposite side right where the shoulder meets the leg bone, smashing both. But, that wasn't enough. The deers leg was in the right place at the wrong time and after exiting the chest cavity, it hit the front leg and went through that also :D If you look closely in the picture, you can see on her front leg where the arrow came out. Look below and to the right of the fletchings on my arrow. The dark spot is where my arrow came out. Muzzy's ARE BAD TO THE BONE :D:D:D:D:D The deer ran a little ways and piled up, just out of sight. Sorry the pic isn't the greatest in the world. My girlfriend took the picture and she kinda cut the deers legs off, but, I don't think it is too bad :D Well, here it is and let me know what you think.......... |
RE: 2003 ARCHERY DEER PICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Your willingness to pass the 5-pointer and to hold off until you got the shot you wanted speak volumes about your growing maturity as a bowhunter!
Congrats on the pretty doe! |

RE: 2003 ARCHERY DEER PICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks guys,
Passing the 5 point up was easy. I have been seeing so many big bucks around here. Too bad they all disappear when I step into the woods :D I knew that she would eventually give me a perfect shot and I didn't want to take any chances at all. You know how it goes, if anything can go wrong, it will. :D Frank, I hear ya. The green woods are looking nice. I am looking out my window right now and all I see is snow [:-] We are supposed to have around 8" by tommorow morning! |

RE: 2003 ARCHERY DEER PICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bulzeye,
I was very pleased with them also. That was the first time I used any of the Muzzy heads, and, I think I fell in love :D I had 4 b-heads that I got this year, trying to figure out which one I liked the best. 1. 125 grain Muzzy 4-Blade 2. 100 grain N.A.P. Thunderheads 3. 125 grain Vortex Pro Extreme 4. 100 grain Rocky Mt Gator XP's After shooting all of these, I went with the Muzzys, but, all of them are good choices. |
