RE: rubber boots leaving scent behind
Rubber is gas permeable. Scent is usually gaseous in nature.
From c903' s link- " * Don' t wear rubber boots. Have you ever wondered, " Why can my bird dog find me when I have on rubber boots? Why can I walk across an alfalfa field in rubber boots and a deer still smell me? Why will an older buck hit my trail when I' ve worn rubber boots and get spooked?" I believe that deer have learned to associate the smell of rubber with hunters. (I think it is because hunters think rubber is magical and fail to give proper scent precautions to their rubber boots)For this reason, I don' t wear rubber boots, but instead prefer to wear Goretex Scent-Supprescent boots. (Me too, Rocky Bobcats, had them 3 years now, store them in a sealed container, only wear them hunting, you can' t smell them at all due to their antibacterial treatment of the fabric and laces)" I added the stuff in parentheses, Bob Foulkrod wrote the rest. My Rocky Bobcats weren' t cheap, but they last a long time, and other than only wearing them while hunting and giving them a squirt or two of homemade ghost juice before heading out, I' ve not had a single deer bust my entry trail since... As an added bonus, they are waterproof and breathable, so sweat build up isn' t an issue. I simply wear wicking polypropeline socks, and my feet stay dry and comfy. |
