Without a doubt my strangest harvest to date. I was a bit late this morning to go hunting (had to drop the boys off at school). So I get going around 9:30 walking out to my stand. I have a path cut through some hardwoods about 150yard walk before it enters a swail lot. Just before I get to the swail lot, there' s a big log laying there, then there' s about a 15 foot hill that I have to climb to get to the swail. So I figure this is the ideal place to relieve myself before I get to my stand. I take my bibs off down to myankles and squat over the log. Without getting to graphic, I' m doing my deed!! I' m looking up the hill to the opening at the swail and I see 4 doe walk right across it on the edge of the woodline.
So I immediately put a halt to what I was doing if you know what I mean (pinch). I grab my gun and crawl up the hill. I get to the top and see them about 50 yards away. I sit on my belly for a couple minutes to see what they are going to do. They take aright and start heading north. The swail is about waist high, but I have one path cut down heading north and south so I can get to my stand. So I crawl on my hands and knees dragging my pants behind me and butt naked. The swail is probably 200yards long by 200 yards wide. I also have another path cut running east to west about in the middle of the lot. My plan was to get to where the cutouts meet and hopefully they will walk and cross it.
So I crawl until I reach the other cutout and I' m laying with my head just peeping out looking down it. I don' t see anything. I figured they veered off someplace. I slowly get to my knees and stand up just enough to see over the swail and there they are. They are only about 50yards away and heading right for the opening in the swail. I watch the first two step out and continue on. I remembered while sitting on my log that the third one was a really good size doe. I get on one knee and sure enough the third one comes out. A really big doe. So I take the shot and put it right behind her shoulder. She ran about 20 yards and dropped.
Thank you Mcdonalds!! For some reason I had no need to finish my doody!! I did however have to walk back half naked to where I left my toilet paper. Talk about POT luck. Anyway it puts me on the board and finally meat in the freezer since I got skunked during bowseason. I could only remember the picture of the blue underwear from one of my previous posts.
