I should NOT have looked back

This buck keeps coming out about 300 yds to the north of me two hedge rows over, I can watch him from my stand. This is working the edges of farm fields. Tonite I decided to hide in the hedge row close to where he keeps coming out. There I am hiding in the tree line, wind in my favor, snuck in like a cat, I' m ready for him. I get this funny feeling so I look back towards my stand and, you guessed it, there he is not probably 20 yds from my tree. Now I have to make the move. I quickly sneek east along the backside of the hedgerow I' m in to the next one going back south. Wing is strong and loud blowing in my face as I sneek south to intercept him as he works his way east along the far hedgerow. I successfully make it to the next field undetected to find 2 does grazing. No buck in sight.

The question is.. Was he ever there? Or did he send out the decoys to trick me and he is now back where I was, laughing at me?

At least it was fun to put the sneek on the does. I got pretty close and they never knew I was there. Good practice I guess.

Well I always say that they dont get big on accident. They gotta have some smarts to get the 5-6 months of hunting, and the always aluring temptation to run out in front of those beutiful lights coming down the road to me at 40mph. lol

could have, probably should have. I took a buck and a doe this year already but gave one away. I do need 2 in the freezer with 4 growing boys eating me out of house and home. I' ve been holding out for another buck. I have all the way until Jan 1st with the bow. The late season does (end of Dec) are easy as they are always out eating during the day when the browse gets thin so I' m not worried.
