What' s the deal with Zaft?
I' ve been seeing occassional references on here about Wayne Zaft and the rumors and/or facts surrounding his buck. I' ve never heard what the rumors or facts actually are. What' s the story?

RE: What' s the deal with Zaft?
From what I can remember, Zaft supposedly shot a large buck and could not find him. Later he heard that a farmer near him had found a huge buck dead on his property. Zaft claimed the deer and said it was the deer he shot. With the deer being a possible world record, things started getting nasty and a lot of guys didn' t believe he really killed it. The official P&Y score did not crown him the new world record and now all the hype is basically over. I hope.

Other than notoriety, what benefits do you get by being a world record holder?

Who gives a Rampolla?

RE: What' s the deal with Zaft?
If I ever do shoot a near-record size whitetail, I promise you I wouldn' t even consider making it public. It' s pretty much guaranteed that some bored, unlucky S.O.B will find a fuzzy spot in my story and turn me into public enemy number one in the whitetail world. Which is exactly what happened to Mitch Rompola and Wayne Zaft.

I read in a mag. that people who record setting bucks can have their income jump into the 6 figure range easily.

RE: What' s the deal with Zaft?
Wow, a Zaft post and no White Raven? Anyway, one of the recent bowhunting magizines had an article about just such a topic. None of the current world record holders got rich. Some got some free merchandise and a couple endorsements worth a few thousand dollars but not what most guys think. They interviewed Zaft and he said if he had it to do all over again, he' d just mount it and not tell anyone. Several other record holders agreed. Not worth the bullschmidt.[:o]

RE: What' s the deal with Zaft?
i read in a magazine that one of the pts was ruled nontypical so he scored 170-some. still big. i wouldnt mind shooting one big but i wouldnt make it a big show to the whole world.[&o] that would be the wise thing to do.
