Rainwear?
 

OK, sorry for posting in this forum. I didn' t get any reply from the other forum.

I' m tire of getting wet hunting in the rain, but I don' t have that much $$ to spend on expensive rainwear. I was looking at the Cabelas Silent-Pro, Rain-Lite, and NorthernLite ScentBlocker rainwear. I' m looking for quiet fabric and be able to stay dry under pouring condition (not all day long, but from time to time). Rain a lot in WA, so any suggestion is greatly appreciate. Thanks.

PABhowhunter recently turned me on to Stearns Growler rainwear in the Cabelas catalouge. About $39 for pants, $45 for a jacket. Cheapest I found that was quiet, water/windproof and breathable.

Cabela' s rain suede packable rainwear has done excellent by me. Used it this fall in Quebec while hunting caribou and had a LOT of rain and very wet boat rides and it never failed. Packs up nice and is quiet. Not cheap but well worth it. Also is reinforced in the knees and elbows and some of the more expensive name brand raingear is not. Dont forget rainproof gloves.

I' ve never hunted in them, but try Frogg Toggs. I use them on the motorcycle and they keep me dry and happy. Very light weight, packable an comes in a couple of camo patterns. Hope it helps.

I can' t really recommend any raingear cheap. I use the 10x gear with gortex and cabelas packable MT050 raingear. But I paid a lot for it. What I can suggest doing is maybe waterproofing your current gear. There are some very good waterproofing stuff out there. I use the ATSKO permantent waterproofer (you can get it through their website) and have had some real good success with it. It won' t get you totally through a heavy downpour, but will work well in a drizzle or misting rain. Good luck to you
