How much area does a dominant buck usual consider " his territory"
 

I was just wondering. Conversation came up at the deer lease and we really didnt come up with a definate answer.

My understanding - bucks will usually stay within a 300-400 acre plot of land, being longer in shape than it would be square.

It also depends on the area. In the north western part of the U.P. of MI, some years deer will actually migrate many miles, depending on weather.

Do you mean how large is the Buck' s core area, or how far will the buck travel away from the core area. Cause a buck may travel a few miles, but then return to the core area. I' d ask TR Michael' s on his forum if you want an expert to answer your question.

Not how far he will travel,but how large his core area is?
