Congrats Mr. ncbowhunter. All animals taken with a bow are trophy's in my eyes. From your description you kept it all together and made the shot. This is a tough defeat. I have taken a number of deer with a bow (mostly does) and I still feel the adrenaline while perparing for the shot. When the excitedness and heart pounding stops for me in a tree, I'll probably hang up my bow. Great Job Sir and am glad you are a part of the bowhunting family. Keep the Tradition Alive.......BowHunt![:-]

Congradulations! The rush you get from your first bow kill is awsome! My first was also a spike and I was shaking like a leaf after the shot. My biggest buck is a 145 inch 10 point took him with a rifle, but I think my most memorable was the spike I took with my bow. It's a feeling I just can't seem to live without. I enjoy the rush...bow hunting is my drug!

Don't feel bad in the least. I've been bowhunting a long time and I still get just as excited when I shoot a doe as I allways have, hope I never lose that feeling. I think too many new hunters watch these videoes and think you should only be proud if you shoot abig buck, not the case it took me a long time and many does and small bucks before I killed my first mountable buck. Be proud of any bow kill and congratulations

Great Job, you should be very proud of your accomplishment. Any animal taken with a bow and arrow is a trophy because not everyone can do it. I have been bow hunting for 22 years and my most favorite memory is the first deer I bagged during my third year hunting.

Congratulations!!! The post got me remembering my first buck, not what anyone would call a trophy it was a mere 3 pointer with a fork on the right side and a spike on the left. But to me it was a 10 pointer in my mind. All your practice, and hard work paid off congratulations. And I don't think you will tell a difference between and 8 pointer and a spike in the freezer they all look the same to me!!!!!!!!! Once again congratulations, and when the big boy comes walking bye the next time, this experience will definitly help. Have a great holiday!

You shot a legal deer ethically, cleanly and humanely. Nothing to feel bad about.
