Duct tape chain on tree stand?
I have two steel cheapie tree stands that attach via chain. The problem is they can be very load clanging around. Can I just duct tape over the chain so it would be silent? Would the taped chain effect how it holds to the tree?
Thanks |
RE: Duct tape chain on tree stand?
I' ve used duct tape on noisy metal parts in the past--it even comes in camo now ya' know! A better idea is to go to Home Depot and pick up some Plasti-dip. It is a liquid rubber product that you apply in coats. When it dries, it is pretty effective at deadening sounds. You need to allow a couple days minimum for the smell to dissipate.

I' ve even used a piece of garden hose.

All good ideas but I would second the plasti-dip comment. I used it on one of my stands a year or two ago and it worked extremely well. Before that, heck, I even tried some of that spray-on automobile undercoating. It worked " ok" after the smell dissipated but I did not use that stand heavily that season.

We use black hockey tape. Works very well.

I have heard of using old bicycle innertubes. It sounds worth a try if you have any laying around.

I like Navy' s idea of a ratchet strap.

we have a lawn service business and we haul our equipment on a tralier so we have quite a few old ratchet straps laying around that we usally use for most of our stands. the epoxy or rubber dip stuff sounds like the best permanent solution to me
