True Dressed Weight of Deer ???

After hearing of countless 200 pound bucks and 150 lb does, it would be nice to hear your expert knowledge as to true dressed weights of deer in your area .......

What does the average doe, fawn, 1.5 yr old buck, weigh dressed in your area ?

What have some of the big brutes dressed out at ?

Thanks for your input ..........

Fawns, anywhere from 50 to 80 depending on when they were born and what time of year it is. Does, 120-150 and 1.5 yr bucks probably 110-130. My friends dad had a couple of three year olds dress at 180 and up.

about the same here in central ill. 50-80# fawns. average mature doe--110-130#. 1.5 yr. old buck -- around 150 or so. your 3.5 will be close to 200 and up.

In Va. I guess fawns in the fall would dress at 45-55 pounds, a 1.5 year old doe about 90, an average doe maybe 110, but I have seen them dress at 160. A 1.5 year old buck about 100-110, average buck about 140, biggest I know of dressed at 210, but that is a real brute here. These are deer in farm country, if you get into the mountains of Va. they are a lot smaller and where they are overpopulated they are pretty small also.

In MD, it varies according to what part of the state you' re in. In MY region, dressed weight averages are 50-70 for fawns, 80-110 for does, and 110-130 for bucks. These are what the average harvested deer dresses at around here. Some are smaller and there' s a decent number of bigger ones taken. The biggest one I know about was a monster taken 2 years ago that dressed at 232.

We' re about like DaveH. I hunt around some pretty good crop land and it seems like we have a ton of acorns just about every year. I' d say our average yearly buck is closer to 125-130. Does seldom exceed 120 and usually are smaller. BIG BUCK will run 180-220.

In my neck of the woods, adult does run about 90-115, with the occasional one running higher, my biggest doe was 135#. 1.5 bucks go 115-130, bigger bucks 150-175.

In extreme northern Wisconsin, up in the snow belt where we get significant snow and cold, Mother Nature has brought genetics into the mix to ensure survival. Much different that other parts of the state. I have no idea what a fawn would weigh or a doe for that matter, but mature bucks in the 3.5 year class will weigh in " around" 200# dressed. There are some old ones around as well. First hand, I have seen some brutes " on the scale" weigh in from the low 200' s to a whopping 266#er a few years ago taken by a son of an individual I know.

I too have seen many people banter around the magical 200# mark. To actually weigh 200# dressed it takes a long, well built animal to make it. I have also seen people brag up some really nice deer and " called" them a 200#er after they measure the chest with a tape measure, when they were short, but still well built animals, but no way were they 200#.

Good topic...

In Minnesota I would say most fawns will weigh up to 90 pounds or so, I shot a doe fawn this fall that weighed over 65 pounds dressed, and most 1.5 bucks will dress around 120-140, does around 110, and big bucks over 200. I see so many guys say " Yeah, the doe was probably 160 dressed." I' m sorry, but I would be willing to bet very few hunters have ever seen a 160 pound dressed doe. Most hunters grossly over-estimate deer weights.

Thanks everyone for your input ........ the best deer I ever saw was a legit 214 lb buck that was truly a monster ....... I am still waiting for a chance at one like that .........
Some of the fawns born late look really tiny, and even some of the 1.5 yr old does look quite small this time of year ............ they were likely born late last year .....

Any of you see large body bucks with spikes for antlers ? I' ve encountered more than a few over the years and they seem to be more than 1.5 yr olds based on their body size, I' ve never shot one and been able to age it by the jaw though ....
