I will only be able to get out on Saturday during the late morning and entire afternoon. I am hoping to see movement all day because of the rut and generally cold temperatures. During this time of the year I normally see an increase in movement during the middle of the day for the reasons I mentioned above.

Well, the rut should be going on just about anywhere from NY to Va. right now. I' m going to NY and will be hunting alone until Sunday so will probably stay in the tree... or at least the woods. I may get down sometime and take a stroll, a dump(you knew that) and check for more sign. Of course I hope that' s entirely unnecessary and I shoot a deer 50 yards from the road on my way in.[:-] Hey, it doesn' t hurt to day dream. The first decent doe or little forky that wanders by is going to get a Thunderhead. Heck, if a spike walks by he' s getting operated on. My buddy wants some meat. It' s my job to shoot one for him. I am not trophy hunting by any means on this trip. NY hasn' t seen fit to give me a doe tag for 2 years in a row. Someone is going to pay.:D;)

If there are other hunters nearby, they could push deer towards you soon after you are in your stand ..... whare I hunt, bucks roam all day this time of year ...... mid day can be a nice time to be on stand .......

Good Luck

I was in a tree in a great location Sat. From 530 till 1030 I saw nothing. I went back in at 1230 I saw 4 at 1, 2 more at 2 and the last one at 230. The rest of the day was a bust. At least I saw a few, that means I' m getting closer.

Last Friday, I had movement all day, but most of it was over a little before noon. The buck movement was all early. On Monday, I went back and saw almost nothing until 10am or so and the activity picked up during midday significantly. I decided to try another area and spooked a doe with a buck trailing her on the way out at 1:00pm and drove to another location--bad idea. The winds changed direction and I saw nothing near me.
