Where are the deer???

This past weekend I saw 2 different bucks on Saturday morning, and 2 does on Sunday night. My question is......where are the deer? I thought for sure I would have seen bucks running does, and looking for a hot date. The first buck I saw on Saturday had his nose to the ground, so maybe that' s a good sign. Here in SW Ohio it looks as though things are slow, but could pick up here soon. Just curious to know if anyone else is experiencing the same thing.

They' re all shacking up!!! It' s the rut, man! Leave em alone while they' re taking care of business! Would you want to be interrupted???

Seriously, it' s time to move the stands to the doe trails. Bucks will be crisscrossing those lanes trying to pick up a hot doe. Try dragging a rag behind you to your stand that' s got a good doe-in-heat scent to it...Tinks 69 comes to mind. And leave a few scent bombs about 10-15 yards from your stand, too. Film canisters with cotton and a scent are good. I use electrical tape to secure a clothes pin to it so I can hang those bombs about 2 1/2 feet off the ground. I' ve had bucks stick their noses right in them and give me a shot at 10 yards.

A doe bleet call will help bring them in, too. Or, you can try rattling. Just remember that when deer hear other deer they expect to see other deer, so they tend to hold up just out of range sometimes.

Good Luck!
