questions on rattle bag and grunt tubes

hey all, new to the site! Had a question that I need some input on, the other morning tickled the rattle bag a little and brought a brut of a deer in to about 100 yrds. At this point he hung up at the edge of the tree row just looking for the origin of the sound. I gave a grunt or two to coax him a little further hoping to bring him into shooting range. He walked along the tree line for about 10 yards not even looking in my direction but was curious to the grunt. About ten seconds later he took off at about mach 10 straight across my cut corn field. The wind was in my favor so I know he didnt catch any scent, what else could it be? There was no flag and no sign of getting busted. Any ideas on how to close that last 80 yards?

6pt125lbs backs up what I have learned, a buck would rather have a girl friend than a fight, I use only a doe bleat when dealing with a buck unless I am stopping him for a shot. One more very important thing when calling is as long as the deer is not leaving the area, be patient and do not call again unless he starts to leave, deer are curious, but cautious. More than likely that buck would have eventually come in to check out what he heard but when he heard that grunt again and saw nothing where he knew something should have been he booked.

I used a rattle bag and grunt call to bring in a huge buck last Friday--missed him due to a twig in the way. And I used a bleat call to bring in a buck earlier this year--he' s in the freezer. All of these calls have worked repeatedly for me--except for The Can. I bought one last year and have used it many times over two seasons now with ZERO results. I' m still carryin it and using it, but my money' s on the other calls now.
