poll on calling

I think Rattling and other calls is dependant on the situation. I only rattle if there are alot of bucks in the area im hunting. I think the can works great no matter what. I only grunt to stop a buck or turn him my way. If there is little competition for does int the area then the bucks really dont care about the rattling.JMO

I always carry a grunt call with me when I' m hunting but I rarely use it unless I see deer and I don' t feel like they' re gonna come in close. There' s been several times that the deer responded to the grunt and came right in (In fact I took a nice 9 point that I called in with the grunt) but there' s also been numerous times when they just ignored the call. One thing I' ve never had any luck with is rattling horns. I' ve tried them several times but haven' t drawn any deer in (as far as I know).
Overall, I' ve had much more luck when I just sat there silent. If you' re in the right area and have done your scouting right then calling shouldn' t need to be done. JMO.

Unless your buck to doe ratio is really good rattling is useless. Ive brought in deer using the primos estrus can, primos bleat can, and true talker grunt call. Ive also spooked them. You have to be careful and not over do it. I usually will call three times and wait fifteen or 20 minutes and call again. If nothing is happening Ill stop all together for awhile. During rut Ill do estrus call about three times, grunt call three times or so and then wait. Doing this and using code blue estrus scent trail and scent wick hasnt failed me yet.

I used " The Can" on a 14 point monster this morning and although he did not come running, he did notice and took a few steps my direction. He was with a doe and another buck already so he probably didn' t want to leave her alone with him.

I won' t go to the woods without my grunt tube. I' ve only killed 2 bucks that I grunted in, but both times I pulled them from over 100yds away with a doe. Without it, I would have never killed those bucks.
