Doesn' t anyone?

Own a freakin flashlight?

After all of these posts about lost deer and going back in the morning, I got to thinking about the deer I have shot and lost (4 in all). I looked for each of them until the wee hours of the morning with flashlights. I have found many deer bloodtrailing with my flashlight but have never gone back the next morning and found the deer after exhausting the search the night before.

Some deer need to be left until the next morning.........gut shot deer for example.

But the others need to tracked until found, I agree.

Best way not to need a flashlight to track with.................just shoot em in the morning, you have a ll day if you need it.

Is that an optical illusion? That looks like one freaking long arrow.

After the last fiasco, I bought a 3M candle recharchable light. With the extra ports on that thing, I could start a car [8D]

I' ve shot a lot of evening deer. Yep, own lots of flash lights. Recovered a lot of deer. Some at night, some the next morning. One, the coyotes got. In a perfect world, every shot would be at 15 yards, a double lunger with a complete pass through. The critter would go about 20 steps and crash.[:-] In reality, folks get excited, critters move or jump the string, a branch or whatnot deflects your arrow, or whatever and you have to trail them. Sometimes pushing an animal that taken a marginal hit will only push him into the next zip code. Let him relax and lay up, and you' ll find him the next morning.:D

If you are gonna track after dark a double mantle propane lantern works better than anything I' ve found so far. It is a little more ungainly than handling a flashlight but works pretty good when hung in a tree for illuminating your gutting area. The light from a propane lantern also seems to help illuminate a larger area at once so you can see the differences between the false red spots on the leaves and the real blood.
I ususally carry a lantern in one hand but have a 3-4 cell maglite in it' s holster. If I need more than the lantern I break out the maglite to help.

The arrows not long, the deer appears small. You can almost see the spots on it.:) Or is that a WV deer???:D
It also appears that it is shot from below or had its head turn up and twisted as if feeding off a overhead branch or some such thing?????
