KE question...

I' m trying to figure out what my KE is, but I don' t have the resources to figure it out myself. Here is my setup. PSE Viking...shooting about 289 fps....arrows are Beman ICS Hunter 400' s at 26 1/2 inches(from insert to the end of the knock)...broadheads are Rocket Sidewinders at 100 grains. I know the setup is good enough for whitetails as I have shot many with it, but how would that setup fair with a shoulder shot. I have been reading many posts recently about penetration with shoulder shots and was wondering how my setup would work if I messed up on a little forward shot. Thanks for the info.

RE: KE question...

guessing your arrow and broadhead weight at 400 grains and shooting 289 fps that puts you at 74 ft pounds. You are packing plenty of punch:D

RE: KE question...

I looked up your arrow shafts to find their weight they are 8.4 grains per inch. Your insert comes in around 21 grains and an average nock about 15 grains and average 4 inch fletching 10 grains each so....
222.6 grain arrow + 21 grain insert + 15 grain nock + 30 grain fletching + 100 grain broadhead = 388.6

This puts you at 72 ft pounds of KE.
