Let the Games begin!!
Well, they' ve been scraping and following the does. The hot weather has finally broken a little. It' s rained straight for two days. I just hung a stand in the last drizzle in the dark at 7:30 so I wouldn' t have to mess and fuss with it tomorrow. Too close to the neighbors to leave it there during the daylight and I wanted the bucks working the scrapes to be past there and out in the fields with the does before I went in and made a fuss. I had a great tree picked out with a little tree with all kinds of leaves on it right next to me for cover. Well, the two days of rain stripped my little tree so I had to walk back 75 yards and find some greenery, turning leaves to hang in my stand for cover. I must say, I think it' ll be hidden well. Now all we need is for the bucks to get antsy and freshen those scrapes in the AM.

RE: Let the Games begin!!
Good luck David. I have heard that as well that after a heavy rain that bucks will work their scrape lines again freshing up their scrapes again. I have not personally seen this but it does make since!

Actually, in regard to the rut, I just had a beautiful 10 point run in front of my car last night as he was chasing a doe....and to think, I was just coming home from pheasant hunting. :D
David, Good luck....bring home a big' un.:) |
