New to Florida deer hunter

Howdy all. Just wanted to see how many traditional bow hunters here in central florida are whitetail chasers. Moved here from Va. and am trying to get my feet wet (no pun intended!!!) on Fl hunting. Not a trophy hunter, and I dont do hunt clubs. WMA's seem my only option as private land is very difficult to get on these days for some reason. Any and all input is appreciated. Thinking maybe hillsboro or green swamp as they are the closest to where I live. What say yee??? (probably will be taking out the Hawken .50 cal also)

Has anyone tried canoing in on the withalacochee to some less hunted/pressured areas? Also, what does a bayhead show up as from a satelite image? I plan on getting out on the river and checking out the area east of 471. Would like to have an idea of what im looking for in the google earth maps before I head out.

If you're using Google maps, you can switch back and forth from the map view to satellite view to help determine what the bayhead looks like in a satellite image. There are also hunting map programs that you can view on your phone or online which help with boundaries, location and even GPS coordinates. They're not too expensive if you only subscribe for a year at a time for just your state. Since you're using Google already, do a search with your own terms ( like "canoing in on the withalacochee") and see what you come up with. Somebody will likely have posted something somewhere and it will help you figure out who else is on the river or not. You can also contact your state Fish and Game to see if they have any info on that area. perhaps a biologist has explored it already? Best of look in your scouting. Sometimes that's a lot of fun all by itself just figuring this stuff out. :D
