What is with this crap????????

Dang,

I went spotting tonight and saw a bunch of nice bucks in the area that I am hunting tommorow afternoon. The sad thing is that the two nicest bucks I saw were both 7 points. One 7 point was probablly 18" wide, 8" tines, good mass, but, he had a busted G-3.

The other 7 point was much bigger. He was probablly 21" wide outside, probablly 7 or 8 inch brows, 11-12" G-2' s, 10" G-3' s, probablly 22" -23" main beams, decent mass, but nothing really special. The thing is, he only had one browtine. This guy was enormous.

The smaller 7 point was chasing 4 doe and was really really trying to get him a piece. He kept jumpin up on the backs of the does, but, they would run. The big 7pt was bedded down in " the triangle" (a triangle shaped piece of woods in the middle of corn and alfalfa fields) and he had a doe bedded just about a foot or two from him. Maybe he already breed her cause his neck fur was all ruffled up. His neck was as big around as a frigin tree.

But hey, I won' t care about those missing points if one of those big boys comes in tommorow. I saw probablly 8 or 9 different bucks on that farm tonight. Hopefully tommorow I will let the air out of one of them. :D

I wish I had the kind of crap your dealing with Magnet. Not much happening for me here in Plum Boro. I need to knock on some doors after the season in and about Westmoreland and Indiana counties. Close to home and good feed in the farm country. Good luck to you on the remainder of the season. I' m heading out to Greene county for a Friday and Saturday hunt this week. Went there last week too, but got messed up by small game hunters. That' s how it gows sometimes...

I sure hope it is colder where you are than here! The deer aren' t even coming off bed until it is dark right now except down in the swampy areas. Good luck!

It sounds to me like those 7 pointers are either being too aggressive with trees or there still may be a bigger bad boy in your woods. Either way stick one and give us some pics.... Good luck

Thanks guys,

This area is PACKED with BIG bucks. It is hard for me to believe how many big bucks are in this area, and that is after seeing them there :D

This area is my best-friend' s uncles farm. There are about 6 guys who hunt it in rifle season, they aren' t really really serious about hunting it and they usually only hunt it once or twice. My best friend and I are the only people who archery hunt out there, and most everyone out there will pass up smaller bucks. My best friend has been passing up small bucks out there since his first year. There is usually only 1 or 2 bucks killed off the farm every year. The woods surrounding it are owned by a guy who lives on the other side of the state. He sometimes gets a weekend each year to hunt his property, so there is alot of area with little pressure.

The 7 points we saw last night were big, really big, but, we have seen much bigger out there this year. This farm holds more P&Y caliber deer than anywhere else around here, it is just hard to hunt. One of the prime bedding areas is a patch of crab apple trees that leads into a NASTY green briar thicket. The part of the woods you can set your stand up in are usually only traveled at night. That is why we have left the woods alone until now. With the rut picking up big-time, the cooler weather which has been un-predictable, the deer will be moving any time they feel like it.

Well, I am going to go gather my gear and get ready for this evenings hunt, I just hope the rain holds off!!!!!!!
