Milkweed tip for hunting

I take a Milkweed pod when they are just about splitting in the seam and place it in my hunting coat pocket. When I bow hunt for deer from a tree stand, I take out a milkweed seed floater, and release it to judge the air currents, and see where my scent is going. Free, and easy. Better than a squirt bottle of talcum powder because not only do you see the direction of the wind, you see where the wind is swirling.

I've been doing that for years. I also attach a piece of white thread about 10" long to the end of my stabilizer. And, if you can find them, 35 mm film canisters are great for stuffing with cotton balls soaked with your favorite scent. You can use the canisters to hold more cotton balls rubbed well with petroleum jelly. Makes a great fire starter.

Talcum powder has small amounts of asbestos in it and can cause cancer.

OH brother!! Dr. Erno has spoken. It appears he has been watching too many ambulance chaser's TV commercials trying to find people to sue.

Use corn starch instead of talcum. I suspect talcum has perfume in it besides asbestos << gasp >>.

A milk pod in your coat pocket?? While I get the principle, I would forget the pod was there, it would rot, and I would eventually place my hand in the rotten pod.

Use a piece of cotton ball at the very least.

The milkweed pod idea is pretty old. Many have been using them for a decade or more. A small rubber coin purse made the best dispenser.

I use dog fur the same way. I got pill bottles and film canisters all over the place filled with dog fur. Like you said, it's free. LOL
