bear hunting in mass

Hows it going, Im thinking about going bear hunting in Massachusetts (my home state) but i have no idea where to start. Ive done a lot of deer hunting but ive never done any bear hunting. What are the basics? is there any part of the state i should try? Ive heard the bear population in MA is doing very well. any ideas.

You might be better off posting this in the regional section. Bear hunting is a lot like deer hunting. Find out where there is a decent number of bear and find their food source. Check with farmers. They'd love you to harvest every one! They eat a lot of corn it gets "milky". Bear move early morning and evening and at night when the temps are down.

my suggestion would be contact your state game dept and ask them where the highest bear numbers are, from there, start looking for pp;aces to hunt, be them public lands or not.
and also, talk to local wardens in these higher area's ask them where they get the most complaints about crop damage, and then maybe try and find some of the farmers with the crop damage, go be polite and ask for permission NOW< don;t wait till season is close at hand, or in fall when farmers are busy with harvest and such
bear hunting without BAITING or hounds, has a HIGH LUCK factor to it IMO, but the more work you do, the higher your odds get!
