Nice buck, good shooting!

I have to chuckle at the expressions of amazement that " Zelazny" killed a deer with an arrow shot from a longbow. I also noticed there were no awe struck comments about the fact that the bow is a 52# bow and the arrow mounted with just a Thunderhead, not a Muzzy, completely penetrated the buck. :)

c903 - I figured more would sya " wow, a Thunderhead, REALLY ?? " then the fact i shot it with a 52# longbow !

I shot a lot of heads over the past 2 years - and Thunderheads simply flew better, were sharper and overall were tougher IMO. I just never got to field test one out of my longbow until this buck and wow, was I surprised @!!

Since he looks to be the best buck I' ve ever taken, and first with trad gear, I' m going to take his head to the taxidermist this weekend. If I didn' t mess the cape up I' m going to go ahead and have him mounted.

Zelazny you know when we were going round and round in the political forum I was pretty sure I knew who you were, but the pic and Johnny backing it up answered what my mind was telling me. That is one fine buck no matter what you got him with, congrats again!

Yes, I would definately mount that deer. Not just because of his size but simply because of how you harvested him. That is what makes him special. Even if he was a 115" 8 pt. but your first kill with a longbow then I would have him mounted. That' s what it is all about. Congrats.

Yeah, elk hunt was reality check - the body WILL crash and burn if you push it too hard. I have never done that until that elk hunt. Very bad situation and Dr Pepper saved the day ... and a LOT of luck !
