Last week, i saw a 8 chasing some does around, could of shot him.... Haven' t seen SQUAT since.....

And i have 6 8' s and better in my area....

Mathews....I have been hunting the Ironwood area (in the snow belt in Wisconsin) for years, and I tell ya, this coming week has historically been the best for buck movement. And to be honest with you, many times it has been dead leading up to that week, then all of a sudden, they go gonzoe!! The past three years, the two buddies that hunt with me from my camp and I have taken a wall hanger on either 11/9 or 11/10. Three for three - man I hope we can string a four for four this year. That being said, I am off work this Friday through next Wednesday..... :-)

I am from the lower pin. in the " thumb" i have been seeing some symtoms of rut for about 2 weeks now. he bucks have not been all out chasing the does but they have been keeping very close behind, not letting them out of there site. the bucks have been responding well to grunt calls. i have been playing around w/ a couple of smaller bucks that i see 3-4 times a week. i grunt they come running to find nothing. they walk around the area and slowly wander away or hang out on the pile. if they wander far enough i grunt again sometimes they will come right back in. it is fun. good luck up there!

The action is starting to pick up in the eastern U.P. also. Quite a few people seeing bucks chasing does. I am off the weekend, and hope to hunt hard. We got a few inches of snow last night, but probably wont last.

Mathews...I live about 4.5 hours south, but spend alot of time in Iron county. Can' t get enough of it, that' s for sure. I' m over around the Gile Flowage area.

How much snow did you get last night/today??

One clarification...we did not score on three wall hangers " every year" , more like three total over three years! Just thought that was worth mentioning.
