Who urinates in a Scrape?!
 

I just read an article in a hunting magazine about scents and lures. This hunter will actually urinates in a scrape before he hunts that area. Do any of yall do this? Ive never heard of it and I would think that it would spook the deer.

Yep I do it every chance I get. I uninate in every scrape I can. It works too, I have the photos to prove it.

Heck I' ve got a good one for you. A couple weeks ago I found a small dried up scrape on an old grown over log road. I cleaned the leaves out with a stick and urinated in it. 2 days later I came back and there were 4, count them 4 NEW scrapes, on the log road within 20 yrds of the one I urinated in. The original scrape I urinated in had been cleaned out and was alot bigger than before. There was also a new scrape within 3 ft of it, under another limb on the same tree.

I have heard that you can do this and it will not scare the deer but then again they said the titanic wouldn' t sink either. So I will not be using my own urine to freshen any scrapes any time soon!!

I did last night on the way out of the woods! I' ll be going back soo to see whats up! I know this is a big buck he has some pretty big rubs next to it and the branches above the scrape are big and all busted up! Plus there is another rub and scrape at a pine tree and the rub is from my eye level to my feet around a tree I can' t get my hands around! This pine tree is tore up big time! I have seen the buck across the field twice now and his body is cowlike! I got within 60 yards of him after I pissed in his scrape! I hope I get a decent chance at him!

The only place I pee is in the woods.I will even walk outback in the middle of the night when I wake up and just walk outthe back door. Yep I did it in a scrape and the next day it was all tore up.

Never tried it but from what I have been reading I am gonna give it a shot this weekend. It cant hurt I havent been seeing deer anyway.

Actually, I just did this on Saturday but I have not had a chance to head back there to check it out since then. I would be interested to see if it had any effect...good or bad.

Just started urinating in scrapes this year. Was actually told by a more experienced hunter to pee about 50 yards or so away from your stand...walk in it, then walk to your stand. Human urine is more dominant than anything out in the woods and it drives the deer crazy.

I started doing it originally to " ruin" the scrapes I wasn' t hunting. Then, one evening, I was walking out and saw a huge buck standing in the scrape I had attempted to ruin on the way in! I' ve been using this " technique" for a while now and it seems to work for everything except small bucks who seem to be spooked by it from my experiences. Does and bigger bucks like it.

Just a couple weeks ago I urinated off the tree stand in the morning, later that evening I had two does come in. One of the doe' s spent about five minutes sniffing a pawing the ground right below my stand where I urinated.;)

I' ve read this as well and tried it. Bucks did return to the scrape that night. The one piece of advice I have is don' t do it if you take any medicines. I' m sure no one can tell you what the metabolites of medicines will do to urine odor.

I also found out about this the " hard" way about 10 years ago. Me and my then neighbor used to pull little tricks on each other, like taking tree stand steps and hiding them, etcetera. So one week I figured I would wizz in his mock scrape every day, every chance I could get.

As far as I know, that season he collected his biggest buck, to this date---damn [&:][>:]

Anyway, I' ll only urinate in a scrape if it becomes inactive. If it' s a hot scrape, there' s no need to freshen the baby, the bucks are doing that for you.

wow! i have heard of this before but always thought is was not really worht tring! i am going to give it a try tonight. i like strut-and-ruts idea though...if it ain' t broke don' t fix it! thanks all

I tried it, and if anything, I had more fresh rubs. A 3 point came up to it too, so if anything, it didn' t spook the deer.

It may work, but theres just something about standing in the middle of the woods with my pants down peeing on some 200lb bucks scrape that is waiting to gorge me in the bushes.;) No actually i have never tried that.

been doing it for years. it works. a friend of mine was getting pissed off that this guy had put his lock on stand fifty yards from his. there was a scrape between the two stands one day and my buddy decided to piss in it when he was leaving. thinking f%$k this guy for being so ignorant. when he returned for an evening hunt that weekend the guy was dressing out a nice buck and explaining how the buck came into the scrape. i' ve been doing it ever since. almost all of the scrapes are torn up when i return. give it a try and see what happens. good luck to all.

I did this last weeend on an evening hunt, actually made a couple mock scrapes nearby the real one.....Had a couple of brewskis before I went, I wonder if Budweiser will run them off?:DLet' s see barley, oats hummmmmmmmm..I may have the best scrape in the woods[8D]

I read an article the other day about scrapes and it said that they did a survey and human urine got hit harder than doe or buck urine I CERTAINLY WILL TAKE A BIG FAT P!$$ FROM UP ABOVE TO THEM SCRAPES

I' d never tried this until this past sunday. I was walking back to my car, and had to go, so I found a likely looking tree with a good overhanging branch and broke the branch. I then peed all over the branch and the ground underneath it. I didn' t bother raking up leaves, and I broke the branch with my bare hands.

I really wasn' t expecting anything, but I checked it on my way out this morning, and there was a nice sized scrape there, and 3 more in the immediate area, only 1 of them was a known scrape location.

Yup! I killed a big eight point a few days ago (pics and post soon) using a mock scrape with my urine next to a fresh real scrape with big buck tracks in it. After releaving myself and hanging the stand I left. I hunted the spot the following night and wacked the big boy from it. Thats no bull, I have nothing for sale! ;)

O yeah, I also forgot to freshen the scrape before climbing up the tree so I went for distence and hit the ten ring on a tree infront of the one I was in. So there I sat with a day old scrape and a coated tree and a bloody arrow in the ground. Did all that urination help? Well it didn' t hurt!

I always urinate out of my tree stand . I have had deer walk straight through it and just hang around. Last yr I pissed out when it was real quite and the noise of it hitting the leaves made 3 doe run right to me. try it it works. Its body odor that spooks deer, not pee. any animal is attracted to any pee.
