Shot deer can’t find any sign of him
He guys. I took a shot at a buck this morning around 30 yards. Heard the arrow whizzing through the air but didn’t hear any impact. Deer spun 180 ran straight into the woods crashed around then started blowing but it was long exhausted blowing for about 3-4 minutes stopped for a minutes then again for 1-2 minutes almost like he was dying. Waited a while went to shot site no blood no arrow nothing. Crawled around looking for arrow never found it or blood. Went into the woods where I heard him crashing around still no sign of anything. So my question is was he just blowing at me ( only about 50 yards away) or was he dying. I wish I could at least find my arrow to determine if I hit him or not. I’m pretty confident at 30 yards so I really don’t believe I missed. Thanks

Burke, I've had deer snort at me for several minutes after being spooked. My guess is that he wasn't sure what scared him, so he stayed there snorting trying to spook you.
Do your due diligence to try to verify a hit. If you shot this morning then I agree you should still be out looking unless you know for sure that you missed. (you don't)

I get not knowing what to do, and bouncing ideas off people. Being this was the 2nd one here, it just seemed weird. ***Deleted by CalHunter***

Man from the looks of some of these comments I think I am on ArcheryTalk. My thoughts are that he missed, arrow buried under debris, deer ran off and snorted repeatedly, as they do, he looked long and hard enough for 6 hrs., and he and the deer live to try it all again. Life goes on...
