YEHAAAAA . Boys i Killed my first with a Bow!
 

HEy All ,
I am happy as a Possum with its Tail Powdered. I Killed my First Deer With a Bow.
I been Bow hunting 2 years and finally it came thur . I killed a Big Bodied 3 Pointer. I Know it anit a Monster but in my Mind hes Big , but anyways just wanted to tell ya. And everything i have read on this form has helped my out and it helped my Kill this one . And also i gave it a Double Lung shoot at 30 to 35 yards , But also some one on the other side of my Grandpa' s Land Shot it after i shot it they shot it in the Butt . But aleast i found him , i dunno why they shot Him. Can Anyone explain that ???

Great job on your first deer. The size of the deer doesn' t determine the size of the trophy. Do you know who else shot him? The deer must have gone past their stand, and they shot at him walking/running, and shot too far back. Did they attempt to track it?

Congratz! did you hear the shot? if you didn' t he could of been shot b4 you got him if not then what the heck was tghe other hunter doing there? anyone else have permission to hunt your granpa' s land?

Congratulations mossberg835283514 !! I know how you feel...I got my first bow-killed deer this Fall too. Hope you have many more opportunities. When I took my New York State required bowhunter training course, my instructor (an accomplished bowhunter), told us two things that have stuck with me.

1. Wait at least 1/2 hour before pursuing a deer you have hit with an arrow.

2. Any deer taken with a bow is a trophy.

I have come to agree with him wholeheartedly. Bowhunting is as satisfying as hunting gets.

Congratulations! A big 3-pointer is still a trophy... there' s one chasing does all around here and his body is huge but his antlers are like pencils. (Not allowed to shoot him with our antler restrictions) WAY TO GO!!!:D
