Missed Opportunity
 

I was able to take my first deer with a bow on Saturday, but here is the rest of the story.

Around 9:00 am, I start into a calling sequence with my grunt call and " Can" . I flipped the can over a couple of times, and then I hear it just to my right in the thick pines, a deep heavy grunt. I thinking , okay this could get interesting. I reach for my bow, and put the " Can" in my side pouch on my stand. I give a couple of grunts and he grunts back. We played this little gfame for a few minutes, and I think to myself, " I' ll give a couple more flips on the ' Can' ." I reach down to get it out of the side pouch and that' s when it happened. I was spotted. No snorting or carrying on, he did not even bolt through the trees. Just merrily turned around a walked off. Better luck next time on the big boy. I did get to take my first doe about an hour later.

This was first experience with calling actually working and it was exciting to say the least.

Congrats on your first deer ! Sounds like you almost had that buck too. ;)
