Anyone have a bow for sale?
I thought my year was going half way decent until this morning. I have a few half way decent places to hunt. Was getting ready to go and qualify to hunt on one of the military bases that is bow only. I have seen deer every time out. I did loose one due to rain.. not due to a lack of trying to find him though.. me and some friends spent 10 hours looking for him the next morning:( BUt all in all not to bad. I have made some wonderful friends on here and learned alot.
SO you are wondering what has made me put a post up. Well I hunted for a few hours at a small spot about 5 minutes form the house yesterday evening. I had been at work at 5 am in the morning so I was pretty beat. I was actually in a daze state when I got home, and was in bed sound asleep by 9:10 (CSI Miami had just come on!) Well I left my pack and my bow in the x-cab of my truck, actually I was so out of it when i got home I forgot about it being in there..(which if your wondering why I would sweat it, well, back in July I had someone break into my truck and steal my bow and all my stuff out of it, and it was a brand new Hoyt Magna Tech, SO I had to buy another new bow this time a supertech) WEll when I got up this morning at 5 to go into work I noticed my bow wasnt by the front door like I normally leave it so I remembered I left it in the truck. SO I got ready for work, took out the trash all the honey do' s since I was planning on gettign off at noon to go hunt a good spot. Well I got I started the truck(after unlocking the door) and let it warm up while I did some things in the front yard for about 5 minutes in sight of the truck the whole time. I left for work and got half way here when I looked into the xtra cab and noticed my bow and pack were gone, I pulled over and looked again and sure enough it was not there.. [:@][:@]SOME ***HOLE HAD STOLEN MY BOW AND PACK AGAIN[:@][:@][:@] I looked at the rest of the stuff and the did not take my Oaklys or any money from my wallet which was sitting in the cup holder, they left my cell and my two way radios. Just my bow and pack. As you all know the prices of bows so no need to rant about the fact that it was around $1300 between the bow and access. and all the stuff in my pack, and the arrows and heads and case. Well I called the sheriffs office and all they would do is take a report.. now who ever stole my stuff had to slim jim the door which is not real hard on my truck being as it is a ford F-350 and it is a verticle lock rod ( I use to manage a towing and repo company for years) and they had to touch the read inside handle to open the rear door and I have not touched it since yesterday when I put my bow back in the truck. I asked them to finger print and they wouldnt. Needless to say I am so pissed about it I dont now if I should cry or scream. The part that makes me most upset is this is the second time in a few months and this was the first time I had left the bow in the truck since the last incident. Which tells me someone has been watchign my truck because it was on the floor of the truck and the truck was parked in the driveway. So they had to be watching in order to get it the only night I havd left it in there. SO I dont know if this is a sign to give up bow hunting or what. I Am so pissed I am in no mood to hunt. I might try one more time.. but I can not get another new bow this year the old lady would string me up if I spent all that again. So anyone got a bow for sale?? I am thinking about buying another case and leave it in the truck and sit out there everynight until I catch the sob since I feel they would do it again. IF I catch them they better hope a cop is close or they just might regret stepping into the yard. WHat would you guys do???[:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@] |
RE: Anyone have a bow for sale?
That sucks! I thought having a tree stand stolen was bad. [:@] I would be ready to rip someone' s head off!

RE: Anyone have a bow for sale?
My apologies for the thief. It seems odd that the perp would leave money, a wallet and sun glasses, but take a bow and pack. Do you shoot/practice in your back yard? Sure seems like a perp would normally take the money and glasses but leave the bow and pack, so it would seem like it is probably someone with an interest in hunting/shooting. Probably someone who already knew you were a hunter.
Not to sound stupid, but... is it possible the bow and pack got left in the woods? You said you were tired that night. We' ve all been there before!! Long day in the woods, tired when you leave. Heck, I left my tree stand next to my truck one night when I left the woods tired. I would guess it' s worth a shot. Just seems odd someone would take the time to break in, but leave money behind. Good luck with everything and I hope they catch whomever is responsible. |
RE: Anyone have a bow for sale?
Dang Man, I am real sorry to hear that... I dunno what I would do if someone stole my setup... I' d buy another for sure, but I would not be happy and I' d probably try to catch them too... but someone that isn' t worth it, people that steal hunting stuff have no idea how much that means to the owner... I have always told my girlfriends... You can touch, and throw whatever you want out in the yard... But you touch anything Camo and we are going to have a problem...[:-] So far that' s worked... Not that my GF' s through my stuff in the yard, but you know women and hunting sometimes don' t get along...;) I know someone that has 2 bows for sale... e-mail me and I' ll get you the details if interested. 1 is a Bowtech, and the other is a Parker... Hope it all works out...

RE: Anyone have a bow for sale?
Eng,
I feel your frustration about the cops. While I was in college I drove off from a ATM (MAC) machine and left my credit card in it. It popped out like they do and some guy and his girlfriend drove up behind me and took it. The cops told me they had pictures of him with a happy surprised look on his face and then one of him showing the card to his girlfriend. THE GUY THEN WENT ON TO USE HIS CARD TO WITHDRAW MONEY!!! Now the cop has photos and only has to look on the bank' s record' s to see who withdrew money after me and they have the guy. Do you think they caught him? NO. They dropped the case. The guy and his girlfriend was able to charge up over $600 before I canceled the card. I was surprised that' s all they charged. I just don' t understand law enforcement sometimes. |
RE: Anyone have a bow for sale?
I think rip someones head off is a severe understatment at this point!! I am past that and the deputies attitude wasnt very concerned either but i have called a friend who is a deputy and he is going to see what he can do. That still doesnt put a bow back in my hand[:@][:@][:@][:@] sorry I was so long winded earlier I need to vent before I implode

RE: Anyone have a bow for sale?
Slice.... I am sure its in the truck because the guys land I was on is a small nursery and he was there when I came out the woods and actually talked with me for a few minutes and helped set my stuff up in the cab after I put the bow in its case...as far as them not stealing anything else thats the way the did it the first time. ALso I dont know if I said it but both times they locked the doors when they were done.
Heavy you can email me at [email protected] or [email protected] |
RE: Anyone have a bow for sale?
Ok,
I really wasn' t trying to be a smartazz, and I hope it didn' t come out that way!! It definately sounds like someone who knows about hunting/shooting. Most people don' t realize how expensive bows and hunting gear are. A bow shop would be a good place to start. At least to get the word out. Best of luck in finding this guy. He needs to be put away. I have a Martin Cougar Mag that I' m willing to loan to you if you need. Slice |

RE: Anyone have a bow for sale?
Slice I did not take you as being smart assed!! I was just making sure I was clear on my facts.
Navy.. I live in the suburbs. MY neighbor is good about keepign a watch outside as he is an avid hunter as well and has had a ladder and stuff stolen from his back yard before. We have had a off and on theft problem in the nighborhood. In fact a guy down the street does alot of coon hunting and they stole a bunch of tracking collars and the tracker in addition to stealing a bow and pistol out of his truck last year. His stuff showed up in the pawn shop down the street and they busted the kid who lived a few doors down from him. He was sent back to juvenile det. since he was a minor. He had already been busted for alot of different htings before. Well when they sent him back his family up and moved out of the nighborhood and did not tell him ( they had trouble with him stealing from them and not being able to control him) so when he was released last time(after he turned 18 so he is now fair game) he came home to an empty house. The night my first bow was stolen he was seen in the nighborhood just after dark by a few people. SO I am pretty sure it was him. My other bow has not shown up anywhere so far and I doubt this one will. I live in the second house on a street and if you stand in my driveway and look toward the road then look to your left you can see the main street in the neighboor hood, funny thing is that there is a cop who kives right there and can see my house and my neighbors> he is the one who filled me in on the kid. He has actually had stuff stolen out of his cruiser. Not that I live in a high crime area but its just a couple of kids causing all of this and noone has caught them again and hard to find any proof. |
RE: Anyone have a bow for sale?
eng if he is over 18 he is old enough for a serious attitude adjustment!!!! LOL Hopefully you can recover your bow at a pawn shop, if not my offer is still open. Which pawn shops do you check at? Don' t forget the ones along rt. 3 and the one at the corner of Harrison road and rt. 1.
|
RE: Anyone have a bow for sale?
Taz.. I have not forgotten sir ;) as far as the pawn shops I live up on 610 and will be watching those and will keep calling the other shops. The one at Harrison and Rt1 is only about 1 mile or so from where I work and I think they have closed and reopend as some sort of second hand shop now.

RE: Anyone have a bow for sale?
i have never had anything stolen so i have no experience but would your auto or homeowners insurance cover the theft?
You might have to pay a deductible but to replace a $1300 bow it might be worth it. I am no inusrance expert so i dont know if that is a possibility or not, it might be worth a call to your agent. good luck finding the thief |
RE: Anyone have a bow for sale?
Krotalus I can not beleive I didn' t think of that, if I am not mistaken it would be your home owners that would cover that.
|
RE: Anyone have a bow for sale?
I had thought about making a claim but we just made one for some damage to the chimney and that area of the house and we just got the check yesterday. I am afraid making another claim so soon might cause them to throw a black flag. Espically with all the claims they are having from the hurricane. I know of a few people who come into my store that have made ckaims this year mostly because of them storm only to have the clam filled then they were dropped. I dont want to risk it, I had already thought of it though.
|
RE: Anyone have a bow for sale?
Good thinking, Krotalus.... Like Taz said, it would be the homeowners insurance that would cover that, because the vehicle is parked ON your property. Same goes with my 17' trihull boat in my side yard. Should something happen to it, the homeowners insurance will cover it, not the boat insurance.
Eng40sqd... Man, that s*cks!!! [:@][>:][:' (] I hope you get your bow back and get everything back to normal. I don' t leave my bow in my truck here in Richmond - heck, I don' t leave ANYTHING in my truck (well, except an Eagles greatest hits cassette, and an old Allman Bros cassette tape). What draw length are you? I could check around the Richmond area for used bows and see if I could find something for you. Butch |
RE: Anyone have a bow for sale?
Your in Stafford? Shoot me an email. Were you qualifying at Belvoir? I may be able to help you on the bow part, and Still yet.... I can qualify you for Belvoir with out having to wait until Wed or Thurs eve. I jusyt qualified 2 of my buddies from Ga. yesterday(Thurs) at 12 noon and we were in the woods by 2 pm.

RE: Anyone have a bow for sale?
Sorry for your loss and hope you recover your goods. It sounds to me like someone from the neighborhood who knows when you are going hunting and when you return. The chances of someone looking into your cab the same and only night you left bow and pack in there are slim. Unless there checking every chance they get and they got lucky, but if they were doing that I' m sure they would have taken your wallet. I have a hunch it' s someone within eye sight of your house. Not to be disrespectfull of our law enforcement members but not all cops are honest, and they do know how to use a slim jim. Also you said they would not take fingerprints, maybe their covering up for one of their own. Its been known to happen. Remember Serpico? By the way I have a few of his aresst reports from when he started out.:) Good luck with your situation, and if you do catch him give him one from the board;)
|
RE: Anyone have a bow for sale?
Set the SOB up. Come home from hunting, leave the case in the truck, leave the cab light on by accident and wait in the bushes. Call someone on the radio to call the cops and try not to beat his teeth in before the cops arrive.
I' m trying to dream up a way to run a wire around my treestand and to a battery that will electrify it for the tree stand thieves. Greg |
RE: Anyone have a bow for sale?
Gryan they do sell solar powered electric fence batteries!
|
RE: Anyone have a bow for sale?
Sounds like someone right in the neighborhood. If not the kid someone maybe just a few doors down. They might of had a buyer lined up before they even stole it. I would talk to all the neighbors and offer a nice reward. That thief probably has bragged to his buddies and they will rat on him for as lilttle as fifty dollars. Put notices up around the area also............dabow

RE: Anyone have a bow for sale?
just my opinion, but you should consider the insurance side of it again, send it through and start getting quotes from other agencies (they' re a dime a dozen) if ya get approved great if not at least ya tried.... and you can always drop them and resign with another agency b4 you get dropped... never know you might just get lucky and get at least some reimbursement for your loss... just a thought.
Can' t stand a thief and I feel your loss. best of luck getting some retribution |
RE: Anyone have a bow for sale?
dabow.. I was already planning on going door to door when I got home. I am going to leave word out for a reward and also let it be known that there are camaras outside since the last incident and that the police have the film and see if that shakes anything up.
Ben and SLice I sent you both pms and Ben I sent you an email. |
RE: Anyone have a bow for sale?
i hate to hear that, having something stolen is one of the worst feelings.
|
RE: Anyone have a bow for sale?
Maybe if I would have bought a Mathews instead of Hoyts I would not have had this problem.. I mean who wants a Mathews when you can own a fine bow like a Hoyt..[&:];)
Just kidding around... trying to pick my mood up some. |
RE: Anyone have a bow for sale?
This is your opportunity to go out and get a Mathews... You know you want one, everyone is doing it...:D... J/P
|
RE: Anyone have a bow for sale?
Honestly I think if and that is a huge IF I decided on anythign other than a Hoyt I would go with a Bowtech probably. I like the way the shoot as well. they feel good to me, but nothign like my HOYT :D
|
RE: Anyone have a bow for sale?
Sh!t....the cops aren' t going to dust for fingerprints. Someone jimmied into my workplace' s office and took off with $3000.00. They left their screwdriver in the cabinet shelf. The cop that came just grabbed the screwdriver and shoved it into his back pocket. When asked if they were going to dust it down....he said, " No...your insurance is going to paid for it...." .
Only time the cops going to search for fingerprints is, if there' s bullet holes in the wall, blood all over the place or there' s a dead body!!!!! Sorry about your lost...both of them. |
RE: Anyone have a bow for sale?
that sucks that someone ripped you off twice ,i bet it was the same person . did you try and file a claim with your homeowners insurance , they might cover some of the costs , it can' t hurt to call and find out! the other thing i would do is consider moving ! good luck!

RE: Anyone have a bow for sale?
I' d setup a sting operation. First i' d get a Stealth Cam and post it so that it will take a picture of anybody that messes with your truck. I' d then come home from hunting, get out of the truck and leave the case in the back. go inside like you normally do, go out the back door/window, sneak around to the side and wait. (I guess you could call it hunting). If you see somebody come and look in the back of your truck, wait till the camera goes off. It' ll startle them, giving you the perfect chance to jump on them and beat the livin daylights out of them.
HAHA. It all sounds so good in my head. Whether it' ll work or not is a different story. Good luck. I hope you catch the guy. -BJ |
RE: Anyone have a bow for sale?
PAHUNTER21....I am thinkign on the same level.. I went out and bought a new soft sided bow case I am going to stuff it with towels and I am also going to take a gun case and leave do the same. I am thinking that will be twice the bait.. like two hot does!! lol
Anyway I am going to leave them in the truck after hunting and go in the front and go back out the back and I have a nice ground blind location not too far form my truck. I also have a nice maple I can set up a stand right above the truck. I am going to take my digital camara and wait until the get the door opened then snap a shot as they reach in and one when they turn around to see what flashed ... then ... well depends on how much they struggle until the deputies get there;) |
